I am about to buy my suspension for my xb, yet I think that most of these companies have pretty much the same springs just being re-marketed.....I have had the h&r cup kit on my jetta, and h&r coils on my gti and mercedes...LOVED THEM! Very stiff but the quality was just there every time you wanted to know. So why is there no one really running h&r sport or race springs, or even the cup kit? I know the cup kit is expensive. Guys please tell me why? Im needing a suspension that will last many many miles and years. (I plan on keeping the car till around 100k miles) and dont know if going low on df210's will only be temporary joy, or go with h&r or eibach.

im running goldlines 2'' drop front and back... love them dont know much about h&r ... i know the maker but dont know anyone who runs them in there box.. just peoples preference.. .

 

yeah but it seems all these preferences are biased. I have had h&r in the past and have been very pleased and can tell people the ride difference between the cup kit and coils. Right now I want either the DF210's, or ebiach/h&r's race springs. Just something that hands down really handles very well and will last 50k+ miles. I guess i'll need to get new shocks too huh?

 

some people dont switch out there shocks i didnt... but anywho... the ones peple do recommend are the monroe sensatrack shocks from the echo.. there s a post on the rear shock s...

well ... H&R is very euro focused.
we are japanese cars. thus, we tend to run with japanese tuners ... tanabe, tein, skunk2 ....
at least that's what i tend to do ... keeping japanese parts on japanese cars, heck since they built it, stick with the same continent.

 

Boss- everyone here likes to run softbutt springs.

the race springs are stiff (just like the megan racing springs) but h&r will not say what spring rates they are running.

The cup kit seems like a great compromise between getting a spring/shock combo and the adjustable coilover kit.

I've ran H&R suspension on my last two honda's. they were perfect. rode harsh (h&r race springs are known for that)

But the sport cup kit seems like a very well put together kit. Install and go. too bad there isn't any adjustability on the dampers.

 

I do add japanses parts to my japanese car, but when it comes to suspensions- and having the germans producing some, if not, the best suspensions around- to me it doesnt matter about keeping the cheese all one flavor/color. If it really is for your benefit in the suspension area- then it should not matter what country of origin it hails from! In the movie waiting- they are correct with the food not mixing contentinal with domestic, but with cars....its all fair game I say.

awesome- i have searched alot, and if I had a TC id be so set on it all in the looks area. But I only found 1 xb with a h&r cup kit and that was all....but that 1 thread alone was very helpful.

Hey Boss, I too come from owning 4 VWs. 3 of them running good quality suspension. Wietec and H&R. My MK3 Golf was on H&R Stage 3 coilovers and I loved it! I was able to lower the car as much as I wanted without sacrificing ride quality. Here's a pic for reference.

Now I am in the same boat as you are. I'm looking for a good quality suspension, but most people here don't change out their struts and if they do, they go with CHEAP monroe struts that can be bought at Sears! I don't know about you, but when it comes to something like suspension, I like to follow the rule.. "You get what you pay for!".

Please let me know what you decide on purchasing. I was thinking of going with the H&R Cup Kit, but lots of people have been telling me I might as well go with Progress Coils because they are about the same price. They say it's great, but I don't know what they are comparing it to.

 

h&r is a really good company theres a porsche dealer down by me and when someone was after market suspesnsion work on there new porsche they only use h&r products i was thinking about up grading to that but now im getting air bags but i do have h&r spacers 15 mm really well made product

 

H&R is really peace of mind ... german technology.
