Cracked Rim...can it be repaired??
I recently got a great deal on a set of Bronze 18" rims w/ barely used nankang tires(thanks again DJ_Sparky) and one (or possibly two?) of the rims have hairline cracks in them, just enough to let air out slowly...
keep in mind, the rim isnt bent at all, its perfectly round and perfectly balanced. But warrantee service isnt an option so i guess i gotta pay to get it fixed...
is it possible to have it repaired? or can i do it myself with a ceramic sealant? how much should it cost?
(i tried the search button and i found nothing relivent)
thanks!

can it be repaired.....sure, welding would be best but no sealant is going to help, it would just blow out eventualy and probably let you sit or cause more damage to the tire/wheel if it runs low on air, but check your state laws too, because its usually against state inspection to have cracked or repaired wheels, but i dont know where your from, but its always good to check first
well, i live in FL so i guess anything goes here
should it be expensive? these rims seem to be discontinued
they're RH Evolution CP8
i understand of the high liability reasons, but 3 perfect rims have no use if the 4th isnt fixed

you may want to contact a wheel repair specialist in your are, i know we have one that comes to our work and fixes expensive bmw wheels that have curbrash and such, maybe they can be more helpful, or can point you in the right direction
Once the rim is cracked, even a hairline, I wouldn't repair it. The damage is done. It's been compromised. We wouldn't weld it for you. Too much liability. A welder with any integrity at all would never repair something and send you on your way knowing that it could be dangerous. Good wheels are too important to skimp on. Find other rims.
