I heard a woman yelling at the Cingular store about the Pearl. The jist of it is that this was her second one and it had alot of problems. I wasn't listing for details but that shied me away from that phone. I played with the iphone at work and I love it. The internet browser is really cool.

I have both. If you get a lot of email or text go with the Curve. Overall I prefer the Curve for reliablity and function.

has anyone seen the new ipods btw?! omg woot! although i feel jipped. 160 gigs for 350 bucks?! and they have the iphone w/o phone feature for sale. 16 gigs is 400.... kinda pricy and small. just a side note.

I have the iPhone. Ive had plenty of smart phones in the past. And the potential for the iPhone is much higher than any phone on the market. Sure the multi-touch is something to get used to, but after a month you wont notice a difference. Plus if you're in anyway computer savvy, you can figure out how to put new, native programs on the phone. things like AIM clients (still in testing, but they work), a program to run Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) games on the phone, add/modify ringtones (for FREE).

The list goes on, those examples I gave are just the tip of the ice berg. Go to modmyiphone.com and check out all the crazy things they are doing with iPhones there. Not to mention the price drop for the 8gb from 599 to 399!

But there are rumors of a 3G, 16GB hitting stores right around christmas time. But I've learned that a lot of rumors about Apple and their products turn out to be untrue. even with that said, I'd wait til it got closer to Christmas to but one just to make sure.

One great feature is the phones connect to the ipod jacks in our cars! And if you have a bluetooth headset that makes using it in your car even better! You can have it play through the ipod jack, the phone will ask you if you still want to recieve calls while playing, choose yes and that way if a call comes through, the music will die down and you can pick it up with your b=headset and never have to touch the phone!

Another thing is support from Apple. I got the phone the 2nd day it was out, so its been a little over 2 months. And in those 2 months there has been 2 major updates for the phone through iTunes to help functionality and reliability. I had a SK2(2 years) and an SK3(year and a half). The SK2 had one over the air update in the two years I had it. Same for the 3.

Bottom line is, people want to talk ish and speculate about the iPhone not being as good as its hyped up to be, but those are people who dont own one, can't afford one or are afraid to buy one but still want to play Monday morning quarterback! I have no complaints about the phone whatsoever! Sure it has its flaws, but what first gen phones have you seen that dont have flaws? And the flaws that do pop up seem to get ironed out fairly quickly by Apple.

I've had my iPhone for about two hours right now, and I friggin love it. It does take a few minutes to get the typing down, but it's pretty easy. I'm a big fan.

not yet, I'm sure it has the capability, but its not programmed yet.

But remember, this is apples first mobile phone. Also, there isn't a phone out there that can do EVERYTHING. Its a matter of whether or not it can do everything YOU need it to.

For the haters, here's a list of some of the things iPhone does not do at this point in time (most are programming issues, and can be fixed with an update)

http://www.modmyiphone.com/wiki/inde...hone_doesnt_do

Thats where the phone is so revolutionary. Any time Apple wants to make changes to the way the phone works, they simply do a software update with the fixes. They can completely rearrange the layout of the phone, functions and buttons. Where as the "smart phones" with hard keyboards, their buttons cannot be changed or moved around! the #1 button will always be the #1 button, same with the a, b, c, d, e, f, etc... buttons.
