Storing Your Rims for the Winter
So here comes the cold today was one of the last warm days in New York I would say and I am rounding off around Thanksgiving I want to take my rims off and put the stockies back on. When does everyone else usually take them off about ? and when you do , how do you store them indoors and if unavailable, outdoors ?
hmm Im trying to get some ideas, aside bagging them, I wish there was some type of plastic container that would fit them, but it would have to be like 3x2 or 4x3 , but where to get one ? maybe home depot ?
You don't really need to do anything special. They're wheels, not Faberge Eggs.
If you don't wanna just stack them, consider these.

But yea, they'll be fine just sitting. It's road salt that really messes up wheels, so as long as you're not keeping them in a box of salt, you'll be fine.

I stack them with fender covers between them. Cardboard can sometimes scratch the wheels. Make sure they are clean and dry. Also detail them and give em a good coat of wax to help seal them from moisture during the freeze thaw cycles that happen during the storage. Keep chemicals and old batteries away from them. Also keep them out of direct sunlight. The light dry rots tires.
I just stack 'em on a wooden pallet by my shed and throw a tarp over 'em. Two things: keep tires away from ozone sources (that means not in my Man Garage next to the compressor 'cause of the motor) and keep them out of the sun (hence the tarp).
I run the stock steelies and tires in the summer and put on the good wheels with the Traction T/As for the winter . . . just to be different -- and because here in Minnesota I need the better tires for winter commutes when I can't commute by motorcycle . . . .
