Default Stupid auto insurance..

I was looking at quotes for my xB and i decided to look how much it would be to insure a porsche boxster (im thinking of getting one next year)

2005 Scion xB (1,200$ for 6 months)
2005 Porsche Boxster s (800$ for 6 months)

I might as well just get the porsche now..lol

That doesn't shock me. When we traded our 2005 xB for a new 2007 Nissan Versa our insurance went down by $60 a year even though it's a 2-year-newer car. When I asked my insurance agent why, she said that it's partly because of how well the Versa did in crash tests and partly because of how poorly the xB did. They also look at things like repair costs and theft history.

I had the same problem with a 350z. It was a new 2006 350z and it was more expensive than my tc. My insurance agent told me that the 350z had better crash ratings. And the main reason why that sports car was cheaper than my four banger tc is because it only seats two passengers so if you were to get into an accident there would only be two people to cover. He also told me that it has alot to do with age demographic. The Xb is a hell of alot cheaper than a porsche most teens and parents go for whats reliable and cheap. Those teens are new to driving so they get into alot of wrecks. So naturally because you own an xb you are more likely to get into an accident, over a porsche that is lol. Insurance companies are stupid.
