snow tires on front only?
Hey i just had a quick question, I got some blizzaks for my wifes xb just for the front. But some people told me i shouldnt just put the fronts on a front wheel drive car. Is it that bad? or will it be fine for just these few months. thanx
With the new generation of tires and in your case, the Blizzaks specifically, safety dictates you put four matched tires on. Otherwise one end of the car has traction and the other doesn't.
Check these articles on tirerack.com regarding four, matched snow tires--

I've run two sets of Blizzaks the last three years living in MT. Lots of snow, lots of ice but I have always felt safe.
Thanks

atleast he is smarter than snarcher and knows which end moves the car.
but yeah, snow tires on all four corners for best results. even though the car is front wheel drive, the rear tires need traction too for stuff like braking and turning. if they have less traction than the front, they can make the car alittle fishy and hard to control.
