Hey everyone, this is the first time Ive done an H.I.D. install and it came out pretty dang good. Ive seen other tcs at car shows and meets and the balast is just zip tied or hanging around somewhere in the engine compartment visible. Unfortunately I am a perfectionist lol so that wouldnt work for me. I installed mine in a way that the ballast would not be seen, may also help if you ever get pulled over for them. BTW I got mine from Mobile HID, this install makes *this* kit seem like a factory part.


I started off by bending the mounts the kit came with into a right angle (L shape). I then found a place where I can use prexisting screws instead of zipties or making a new hole. Run the connections from the kit through the hole next to the headlight housings.



Here is a close up of both sides where I mounted the ballast.





Once you have installed the ballast top it off with a Doctor Isotope Radiator Cooling Plate and no one will know you have H.I.D.s installed.



Here is a shot of the grill and the little bit you can see of the ballast, if it bothers you it can easily be painted black.

what happenns if you Rear End someone?....The ballasts will be Toast!....But good idea I guess!

That is where I put my kit as well a while back..........fit like it was meant to go there..........I angled mine a bit to the sides to match the curve of the opening and then you cannot see them through the grill aswell.........

 

so u can see the ballast through the grill?

 

its all good, they are water proof, plus the connections are towards the bottom so that water wont sit on top of them.

 

Only if you get down and look right through the grille close up........they hide very well. If he can run them in a bucket of water for a weekend I feel pretty safe......LOL

 

That's a pretty dope spot. Especially with that diversion panel there. Good idea.

 

I have the vrd grills so you can see a little bit of the corners of both, with the 08 grills you will see nothing. If it does bother you that much paint the ballast black.

About the water issure, it has been raining non stop over here for the past 2 days and I have been driving through it and parking in it and have not had any problems.

Looks good. I mounted mine behind the bumper, so they are nowhere to be found. I thought about mounting them behind the grill, but I didn't want them to be seen.

 

Id be concerned about someone stealing your ballasts. All they have to do is hit the grill out and then rip the ballasts off the bumper. Probaly would take all of 30 seconds.

 

I would be ticked if someone did that. I will probably eventually paint them black so you wont be able to see any of them.
