Any time my HID's are on I get horrible radio reception. The ballasts are mounted on my driver strut tower and on the lower part of the frame on the passenger side below all the hoses. Is there any remedy for this?

Well I am glad I am not the only one. I use to have Oznium HID's and had no problem. I switched over to mobile HID and every time I turn on the lights and the radio I barely get any stations. I might go and buy an FM booster and see how it will work out after that.
for a clean installation, you could get a radiatior cooling panel like this one from doc I: http://doctorisotope.com/index.php?o...d=12&Itemid=29
and make some your own brackets on the bottom so the ballasts can be mounted in an a very discrete place.
All you would have to do it take off the panel to change the ballasts if you have to...
i have been planning to do this for a while, but i just havent ordered the cooling panel yet. :D

What it sounds like to me is your getting electrical interference with the ignitors and ballast unit being so close to the radio. Try and move them away but think of it this way. Its kind of the same concept of why you dont run your power wire and rca's down the same sides when running your wires for subs, etc. Whenever power is running through a wire, or in your case, ballasts, it creates an electromagnetic field. My guess is is that the magnetic field is reaching to the radio. Try attatching a ground strap from your radio to a ground. I don't know how well it would work for I havn't done it but thats one thing that could be tried. You try this at your own risk, I'm not responsible for anything you do to your car, just a helpful hint (or hopefully helpful) to fix this problem.

ya im actually an installer and know a crap load of the interference issues... but why would it work great on one kit and not the next. Nothing in the car is stock radio wise. And the ballast is mounted all the way on the strut tower. I guess I will move it over to the radiator and hope for the best. Also if I attached an extra ground to the radio it would only help with a ground loop.
I have the driver side one mounted on the same bolt used to hold the master cylinder brake fluid container on the strut tower (basically under the airbox, it is really hard to see unless you look for it) and the other on the passenger side is mounted right next to the headlight.... and no interference for me.... maybe the new ballasts have a stronger magnetic field... either that or there isn't any insulation to prevent rfi...
Well I know with the wiring hookup kit I bought with my radio it has an extra ground strap for whatever and now that I tihnk of it that may be what its for... but I don't have hid's yet so I don't have this problem. So I'm ok now. I just gotta go pick up my hid's and Ill be good.
