Default Auto Off + HIDs

Sorry if I missed this somewhere but I searched and didn't find anything. I always drive with my headlights on. Back when I had halogens I used to love the auto-off function. Just put the key in, lights would automatically turn on, start the car and go. My question is if I can still use this with HIDs. I know when starting the car up, it bogs the electrical system down a bit and makes the halogen headlights dim/flicker a bit. Is it okay to use the auto-off function with the HIDs? I have a seperate relay but I don't want to kill the ballasts prematurely. I know that turning them on and off such as when the alarm goes off can kill the ballasts prematurely but can this?

ive nvr had a problem with mine. i always use the auto on on/off function. I dont have an alarm, but when i lock/unlock the car it flahses the turn signal lights not the actual driving lights so i dont have to worry about that.

I do it all the time, but I'm not sure if it will kill the ballasts. I would assume that it shouldn't be a problem as long as your engine starts up normally.

Lol. yea aright. I was just wondering if the power fluctuation would kill the ballasts during the engine start or not.

i'm not sure, but i've started to only switch my low beams on after my engine's running, so it doesn't do that flicker between on and start.
