Default Need advice on wheels...will these fit?

I'm thinking of buying wheels for my 05 xB. I'm looking at 17x7.5 with a 40 offset. Would anyone know if there will be any fitment issues? The car is stock now but I will be putting in Tein H Techs. Also, what size tires should I go for?

Thanks.

I'm not positive, but I think you need the rear hub shims with a 40 offset.

That will fit fine... you might WANT hub shims to push them out a bit, but you don't need them at all.

Go to tirerack.com, they will recommend a tire size for whatever wheel you want.

My Trak Lites were 17x8 +42. i ran a 215/40 tire. No rubbing issues and i was on S-techs and Basic Coilovers.

Like above a 10mm or even 15mm spacer would help bring the wheel closer to the fender

I'm running a 10mm spacer in back (18x7.5 +42)... they could stand to get pushed out a bit more.

A few more questions...
Are shims and spacers the same thing?
Are they for appearances only or are there any negative effects to not using them?
I do have passengers occasionally so I worry about tire rub.
Thanks again!

The shims/spacers we are speaking of go behind the rear drum assembly.

I never rubbed with my Motegis when I had a 15mm spacer and my Coilovers almost to the bottom on the front and rear with passengers.

The only thing i would recommend when getting a wheel spacer one that goes between the wheel and the drum is that it is hub centric and has extended lugs
