The shop I work for, Design tech is on a "Reality" show Known as Car wars with Funk-master flex. we where given six weeks to build a "Show car". The contract said go as wild as you can with the car . unfortunately it's becoming clear to me that the whole thing was a ruse. the show is on its third episode and its painful for me to watch. The way they portray us as sexist goons is disgusting and the judges and hosts lack of knowledge is frightening. I guess we should have known better seeing as I don't think funk master flex knows much about cars, and he is pretty much a puppet for the ford motor company. Sorry if Sound upset or as if I am ranting; but customizing cars is something we do with every fiber of our being. To see someone who is put in a position of power simply because he has a giant megaphone to the ears of fords target demographic makes me sick. I am sorry if this thread has offended any ford fans or fans of flex. I just think the reason ford is second to Toyota is because toyota treats their customers like family while Ford treats there customers like idiots; as evident by the editing of this show. When the show is all done I can post pics of our work so you guys can se the craziness we pulled of in six weeks

I've been watching this and I can't believe that judge. I've only seen three episodes so far, but I think the blue team wrapped the dash in suede. They said its was stupid and old school. Another team did some one off stuff to get some wide 5 lug wheel on and she totally rip on him for not using multi lug wheels or ones that use four lug. WTF! Then she said that wide wheels are dumb and pointless.

Flex is dumb and thinks a custom car has 20s and two tone paint.

Yup I am on the blue team and that is my xb (flex called Scion the worst car ever made). I have been a car enthusiast all my life and I am now 33. In the seventies the thing was velour not suede we thought that suede would be hot, and we where sure that the other teams would not be using such a material. the funny thing is the judge you mention was on the first season of car wars and she doesn't evan touch her own car. The editors completely took out the fact that are wheels are probable the only ones of their kind in the U.S Garson deep racing that we bought off of scion life. Its just frustrating that we (and most of the teams) are being made to look like A-Holes when we all put so much effort into making a sick ride.

Yeah I thought it looked good. The whole sync thing was so dumb. They want you to leave in the car, but you can't even take it out to work on the car? I can see leaving it out after your done, but taking it out while the cars in pieces already. Come on. The team thats making a roadster out of theres gets flamed for hacking up a new car. How do you make a custom car thats supposed to be eye catching without cutting into it? They make it look like you guys have two days to finish what your doing when they do there "report card challenge". They really rag on you guys saying you'll never finish it.

Now I can't wait to watch it this weekend. Before I was just tuning in cause I was waiting to watch something else. I really want to see the dumb thing they'll say next. lol

After its over with. I'll be boycotting Flex for the scion remark. Now I just have to find out what he has to boycott. Hmm...lets see...Oh, nothing....

 

^ like he said, that sync thing was dumb. it also looked like team shocker took it out on episode 2. this show (with the music) makes you guys look like you dont know what you're doing.

All I can say is I think suede is hot. I like the way my interior looks. I just hope they don't flame us to bad in the next episode.

i have it on my seat, door panels, trunk encloure, headliner, and putting it on my engine cover (just for shows) :D
oh, and i'm reupholstering my daughters car seat to match my interior, haha

and usually people who dislike scions are import haters as it is. wow i'm glad we dont' get this show anymore

 

I cant hate on some one how is trying to make a buck, I understand he has a job to do. But I feel as if we should at least get a reach-around
we have a couple of weeks left so I hope they ease off us and all the other teams and "focus" on our work. We will see.

 

I remember watching the frist episode. It seemed like a really long infomercial for the Ford Sync. I liked Flex's old show better.

i remember when he used to have a show on spike years ago back when i was in high school where they'd fix up a suburban and give it to one person or something like that. dont' remember what it was called, but it was like the same story at every show... the candy paint, the big chrome rims, the stereo ( that was usually crap) and that made the car what it was haha if only they knew the tuner world

 

yo beej after getting half way through the second episode, i cant believe they expect you to build a full blown show car, while leaving pieces in the car. having to put it back in the car a week into the build is a total waste.

WTF.

 

I felt like I was being talked at by ford while watching this. The whole thing with the sync, and, don't get me started on that b1tch Lori. Dear Sweet Jesus. I hate reality TV...Sorry to see BJ. Hope they chill out on you guys.

I have never liked Funk Master Flex.
1) When he speaks he sounds like he is speaking through a trumpet mute.
2) He isn't that talented.
3) He is not open minded at all. If it does fall between | and | he doesn't like it in the least.

I watched the 3 episodes they have online. So far I thought everyone had thier stuff together, and I can't see what the hell Lori's problem is. The whole thing with the sync was dumb and pointless. It seems like one big ad for sync technology. And the whole wide tires thing? Hilarious. Just turn it into a model A and see if Lori's impressed. Looking at her, though, I can see where she'd get upset when wide tires are mentioned.
