Default Brakes 2006 xb has clunking sound when first put into dirve

I just brought my b in for the last free oil change and asked about a noise I get when my car is cold I first shift into drive from park and as I relase the brake pedal I hear a clunking noising. It goes away once you start driving but it is something I just started noticing, The Scion dealer says it is the rotors are a little loose when you first start then self center themselves. I don't know about this and it sounds fishy. has anyone else run ito this noise. Anyone else have this?

I change my pads and it this happens to me when i don't PERFECTLY center the rotor on the hub. Its really difficult to get it perfectly centered but i go through the trouble. Since you don't do your own brake, mechanics wont go the extra mile to make it fit dead-on, so don't worry nothing is going to happen, you just get a slight clunk noise. It happens to manual transmission too, usually when your moving forward, stop, then reverse and when you first touch the brake you get the clunk.

Its all about the rotor moving slightly with the pressure of the pad.

also.. pads are designed to be a little smaller than the bracket they are in, so when heat expansion takes place the
pad doesnt lock or get stuck in the bracket. So, when cold and all the metal shrinks down, you now have pad play in the
bracket, the pad is shifting front to back or back to front... then... "clunk"

its the pads on mine. Not the rotors.
It does it as I back out of the driveway every morning.

I have a manual and I have some kind of clunking noise. I get the noise when I am accelerating in first or second gears. It is most noticeable when I just start to drive. Would this be the same thing your are talking about or could mind be something different?

If you're moving, the creaking is probably suspension.
Mine does that too. I'm running stock suspension so far.

Yeah, my suspension is stock as well. Have you had anyone look at it?
