hey guys, im probably gonna get new rims later in december, but i was wondering if anyone knew how much the xb would get raised if the wheel size went from stock(15 inch) to 17 inches. i wanted to get tein s-tech springs, but im not sure, cuz the streets where i live are horrible. thanks!

 

Depends on what tires you go with. 205/40/17 will be closest to stock, 215/40/17 will be a little higher and 215/45/17 will be almost an inch taller than stock, but with a 7" wide rim and a 40mm offset, you will not rub.

 

koo...so if i was goin with the 215/45/17 and lowered my car with s-tech springs, i would lower it about .5-.7 inches?

 

It will still lower it however much the s-techs say, you will just have a taller tire, so there will be less fender gap and the actual "drop" will not look like the 1.5" or whatever they claim, but only due to the taller tire. Also, you really won't be able to tell without measuring. It will look lower, and the tires will come almost right to the fender with a tire that tall. Your speedometer will be 3.7% too slow at 60mph, so youll actually be doin like 63 mph when your speedo says 60. Other than that, go for it.

^^^^ that's what I'm sayin. Helps to have your values correct before doing the equation.

 

I found this site to be a little more helpful because it also calculates inboard and outboard increase in relation to offset.
So you get a better idea of overall fitmet before buying. No more guessing about what offset would best fit your ride.

I just wanted to post, that if you look under the first sticky here, it lists the stock size as 195/60R15. That was the size i was going off of. I wouldnt know the stock size since i only put 5 miles on them. If this is the size, then im right. If not, then im sorry for the above post, but 3.7 percent isnt that bad anyway.

i just wanna double check this: so if i get 215/45/17 tires, and then lower it with, let's say, springs that lower an inch, i would eliminate the gap but the height of the car itself would be close to stock?

 

Not exactly. Check out my sig pics. In there you can see the before and after with springs installed. I installed the Tein H Techs, but have a 215/45R17. When i park next to a fellow RS1 owner ( Jennay ) her Scion sits higher then mine. By about an inch.

This is why i say that the 215/45 cant be much more off then stock. I have very little wheel well gap, and yet i sit lower then stock. Hope this helps, and you can hit my PM if you need any other info.

If your springs lower it 1.5" and your tires are 1" taller than stock it works out like this... you gain 1/2" from the tire height but lose 1.5" from the springs so it will only drop the ride height 1" from the original stock height by the time you are done.
