Default Need Help With Wheels and Tires

Hi everyone, I've done a search for the past hour and I can't find a typical weight for 17" tires. I am getting 17" Motegi DP6 rims which weigh 21 pounds each. I belive the tire size I need is 205/45/17, and please correct me if I'm wrong. (I believe that's what the guy at the wheel place said.) Can anyone tell me a typical weight for this size of tire? I think around 19 lbs. each, but I don't know for sure. I'm trying to stay close to the 37lbs. per set of the stock wheels. Please help me if you can. I don't know how much extra weight will make a noticeable difference.

Thanks.

205/45/17s are the wrong size tire the profile is supposed to be 40. They will throw your speedo off and make it a little slower. 215/40/17 or 205/40/17 are the two sizes that won't affect your speedo or performance.

Thanks for the info. You are correct. The tires are 215/40/17. I got them this weekend. Although I didn't weigh them, the owner of the shop said that 17" tires usually weigh 15 to 17lbs. This means that a 21 pound wheel and 17" tire should be very close to stock weight.

If you can tell me what tire you purchased (brand & Model) if it's a line we carry, I would be glad to let you know what they weigh.

For the last time. The 215/45R17 is a bigger tire, but will not affect the speedo dramatically. I have had that size ( as well as 6 others here ) when i purchased mine almost a year ago.

IMO, if your going to worry about that little difference, then you are going to worry about chips on your window, and rock chips on your front.
