Default P Nero Zero :-/

i had bought these tires for my tc after reading reviews on tire track and on scionlife. yesterday it snowed here in iowa and i was sooo disappointed in these tires. the car was literally sliding on roads which had not been salted. the traction was poor. also i felt the abs brakes every other time i pressed the brake pedal..are abs that sensitive

am i doing anything wrong or is that how it is suppose to be??

well you'll have to drive slower.. ;) but seriously.. i've been in aboue 2-3 inches of snow with these tires in michigan and they have been fine.. ice is something most tires have a problem with.. except maybe the blizzaks (winter tire).. and yes the abs is that sensitive.. when i was on ice with these pirelli pzero nero's.. the abs kicked in.. with the snow that you might be getting in iowa you might consider snow tires.. if it gets much worse in michigan i am going that way..

one more thing, i highly doubt that the pzero's could put up with more than 3 inches of snow.. the tires are great but i don't think anyone can expect them to be as good as snow tires.. sorry that you were sliding all over the place.. i know i was one that gave good reviews for these tires.. but i should've updated it with the winter experience i've had.. i think they are the best tires out there, but for winter.. not like a winter tire.. but they way they're making tires now.. it's like they are not making a true all-season tire anymore.. so you have to buy the snow tires.. (others will tell me about optimizing) but tires in the past could deal with winter better. i think..

Hrm, the Pzero Nero are summer tires, aren't they? If you use ultra-high performance summer tires, I highly recommend that you swap out to winter tires... I've had bad experiences on summer tires in winter weather. No accidents, but it's not worth the trouble you will inevitably get into.

I bought those for my IS300 and they have been the best set I have ever bought. They have had SUPERB wet traction and great snow traction. We don't get really deep snow here, but when it does snow they don't treat the roads well at all. On top of that, it's a rear wheel drive car and I am from FL so I have basically no experience driving in snow. All that being said.....the conditions you described make it seem it would have been a challenge for any tire.

I agree swap them out, I had 17's on my 95 mustang gt with yokohama es 100's also a summer tire. 2 inches of snow was the scariest ride I ever had. Anything over 20mph & it was sideway, yes the xB is no mustang but still. Do yourself a favor & swap them it is only three or four months till you can put the low pro's back on. Well worth the wait, it will save someones life not to mention your own !

Just my own experience

the pzero nero's that i have are m&s (mud/snow).. but not snow tires.. They get that rating because they can deal with cold temps and still have traction.. they have a higher treadwear also.. 400 instead of the "summer" pzero neros at 220.. so they look different but can deal with the cold..

I would agree that if icestorm is going to get hit with more snow.. real snow tires would be the best.. and to throw the pzero nero's back on when it's over..

Those of you that have tried the P Zero Nero M+S, did you use 16" or 17" (do they even have 'em in 17"?)?

Also, have anyone in PA specifically tried the P Zero Nero M+S?

i was really impressed with the review that tirerack gave the Pirelli PZero Nero M&S tires ... im definitely gonna get them put on as soon as spring rolls around up in New England .. im glad people have stuff to say about them on here .. good to hear what experiences people have had .. of course they arent gonna be that great in the snow .. cuz they arent specifically a snow tire ... i got snows on my car on 15's anyways .. hell the bridgestones that ya get with the TC SUCK in the snow .. i would think the pirellis are better than them.. thats a start ... the Pirellis are a superior improvement over what you get with this car ... thats just my $.02
by the way on the topic it says PNero Zero .. whats that?

You guys that have 16" or 17" tires & wheels for the xA...can you still use your spare tire? Or did you have to get a spare tire to match the size?

I sure that was a typo... Its suppose to read Pirelli P-Zero Nero.

I was spectical about these tires too...but after roll'in them now for over a week or so...I luv'em! And these are the 215/35-19's...

There really nice in sticking to the ground and really responsive to the cars steering. Lower the car and inch or two...are you well on your way to a nice ride in deed! :D

I'm in michigan.. similar weather to what you have in PA.. I have the pzero nero m+s tires in a stock tC size of 215/45-17.. so yes they have them in 17".. they are great tires, better responsive steering than stock.. ride is a little more harsh, but not bad at all.. more sporty. they are quiet on the highway (more than the stock, i think).. they stick like glue are great in dry, wet, and even snow slush.. more than 3" of snow, forget it.. but if you take it slow you can probably get home ok..

the only reason to get the M+S version is for longer treadwear.. and that it can put up with cold temps.. it got down to about 5 degrees here in michigan.. tires did really well.. had traction right away, didn't have to warm up.. but the one thing they do have happen to them (sometimes) is flatspotting.. it'll vibrate about 1-2miles until they warm up and the flatspot disappears.. it's the nylon/rayon combo in the tire that does that.. but it's kind of common from what I hear about low profile tires and the cold.. other than that.. I would definitely recommend them (i had a couple out of round pzero's but i've gotten that with most every tire maker.. and yes i had them replaced.. all good now!).. this tire is definitely the tire for the tC!
