but if you go to the trouble of changing the strut, I'd put in better springs too.

Some people don't want a drop, just a better feeling ride.

why would you even want to "race" a Scion? There are much better performing cars to "race" with.

You got that right. It's a cruiser, not a drag car.

most likely he is talking about 'stock' class for SCCA autocrossing...legal to change the struts, but not the springs.

How much better ride did you get? Do you mean it is smoother and less jouncy when you hit bumps or expansion joints on the frewway? I don't want to lower mine but would love to improve the ride.

drag racing is boring in my z06
im sure it would be even worse in my scion xA

Im not drag racing my scion, I am autocrossing it. There are classes in SOLO2 autocrossing specifically for low horsepower cars.

I gaurantee I will have you grabbing the 'oh ____' handles as I enter each turn with some konis and a nice set of hoosiers even on a scion.

hell, in my z06 I have made grown men puke.

the z06 is fun to autocross, but expensive. set of race tire - $1,200

set of scion race tires - $400

theres just as much fun in lateral gs as forward ones =)

Id get a miata if I fit

like I said....'Stock' class, there is a class for most any car you can think of.

you don't need a sports car to race or do well, just be a good driver....I've beat many a V8 in my Impreza :?

elzy000,
Please explain the "better ride", I know it's subjective but I'm not happy with the stock shocks/struts on "choppy" freeways. I actually skipped a couple feet to the right yesterday at 75mph on the 580 leaving Oakland eastbound and returning later just about knocked my teeth out. I think the stock valving is a little on the stiff side to keep the tires in contact with a rough surface.

Youve correctly identified an important fact about suspension setup that most people fail to realize. No 1 setup is optimum for all possible roads =)

You can get some adjustable koni shocks from spyeng.com and adjust them to suit the roads you drive on.
