Default 05 Xb Looking at XXR 504's

I'm considering going from stock steel 15's to XXR 504's 215/35-18 tires
no lowering - no suspension changes -

Questions: is the ride going to suck?
is the mpg going to suck?
What tire brand/model would you recomend?

Thnanks for your input!

I just went back to 15"s after running 18"s with 35 series tires cause I was tired of the rough ride. Just finished my second tank of gas, and getting 3 mpg better with the 15"s.

The ride will suck if you stick with the stock struts and run the usual xB 18" sized tire of 215/35/18. If you stick with the stock springs you could update to Monroe shocks/struts and go with something like a 215/40/18 tire size. You would have the best of both worlds. 18" looks and 15"-17" wheel ride comfort. Then decide if the 3 mpg loss is worth the 18" look.

Im curious, why 18's? Why not 17's or better yet 16's? I usually roll on 16's, My tire size is a bit harsh (215/45 16), but you could go with a 205/50 16 and it would be really comfy, not too much bigger than stock and it will look pretty good.

Like everyone here has said, the ride will be very harsh on 18's. The look is great, but you have to sacrifice one or the other. Personally, I enjoy a smoother ride.

17" wheels give the best of both worlds, looks and ride quality. Just go with a 215/45/17 tire for best results.
