Default Possible solution to my Clutch problem

I will post this as information in case someone else has the same problem. I been having problems with my clutch as everyone knows and a DD seems to be my only option. But some friends told me about their expiriences with these DD. Things like the loud annoying noises and other problems that they had expirienced and what I should expect was all I heard. This make me think twice on those DD so I wrote and e-mail to ACT to see how they can help me and this was their answer.

Roberto,

Thank you for your e-mail and interest in ACT products. We offer many clutch kits for your application and our Xtreme pressure plate is available. They are made to order and will take approximately 2-4 weeks to manufacture. Our website may not be completely up to date. Attached is a list of kits below. If you are using your vehicle for street driving, we would recommend using one of our kits which utilize a full face street disc such as our TY4-XTMM which is capable of holding up to 504 lb ft. of torque rated at the crankshaft or our TY4-XXMM which is capable of holding up to 553 lb ft. of torque rated at the crankshaft. If you have any other questions, please contact me using the information provided below.

I have clutchmasters stage 4 (6 puck) as well as fidanza lightweight flywheel. there are hissing sort of noises when you let go of the throttle while still having in gear... which is completely normal.

as for the daily driveability, you are gonna stall the car first couple of times- its normal, everyone has to go through it. but you get used to it.

Ok the last four letters on the first column are the pressure plate and the disc. In this case it's a xtreme pressure plate with a 4 puck race disc. ACT says that this kit could hold 645 ft lb to the flywheel which I think it's enough for my application. The last two series of #s are just the parts #s for the pressure plate and the disc. they also have an Maxx Xtreme pressure plate but isn't a good idea for daily driving.

Xtreme - XT

- Clamps load increase of 50% to 120%
- Pedal feels moderate to stiff
- Many SFI Certified to insure safety
- Recommended disc: Street or Race

Solid Hub (4 Pad) - R4

- Recommended for Drag and Road Racing
- Increased torque capacity
- Fastest shifts, low inertia
- Good durability but shortened spline life
- Harsh engagement, chatter

Exactly what I got the first time and died after 6 months.

i think you must combine both GT35R .
with that i mean the whole clutch kit.
Heavy Duty Pressure Plate + 4 Puck or 6 Puck Clutch.
see the one with springs in it.
i have a ACT 6 Puck in my mazda i was running it daily and mine was without Springs!

i don't know if you've ever driven a solid hub clutch before but it is hell. and the only twin disc i have ever heard make noise was an exedy. i've been in about 4 evo's with twin disc clutches and they make noise thats appropriate to the HP they put down. i'll have the CC twin disc in aprox a month if you haven't picked then i'll give you some feedback

the twin disk is very nice it will hold my only complaint is the 2nd pressure plate has a tendancy to rattle around sounding like a midget is under your car with a hammer

I have a 4 puck solid installed on my car at this moment and isn't that bad. Actually I have no complaints besides that it doesn't hold the power. I know by fact that twin disc make a lot of noise no matter which brand. I will appreciate the feedback.

A buddy of mine (not a Scion) is running a 4-puck CM unsprung and he says it's fine for DD.

I'm using a 6-puck sprung Stage 4 Competition Clutch and I love it.. however I don't have your hp/tq so I can't vouch for it at your levels.
