Default Loose tC sunroof

About a month ago I noticed that my sunroof was making a whistling noise when I reached about 40-45mph. It was actually quieter to pop the sunroof to the vent position. An easy work-around except when its barely 20 degrees out. I've googled the subject and found numerous articles about "rattling sunroof" issues and how the seal could be bad or that the sunroof needs to be reinitialized etc. I have tried lubricating the seal but that did not work one bit. Yesterday I was taking groceries out of my backseat and when I went to close the door, the glass from the sunroof hopped up a bit when the car door slammed.

I am living on a tight budget at the moment and the dealer said my car (2006 tc) has past the bumper to bumper warranty period (bought it in October of 2005 and it has 37,100 miles) so it would be at least $45 for the diagnostics and then depending on the fix, whatever the parts and labor cost.

Have any of you had this issue before? Does anyone know what could be causing this problem and/or how to fix it?

I was having the same problem and fixed it myself without trying to. I instaled an injen intake and in the process disconnected the neg. bettery terminal, which reset the whole system. When i went out for the test drive i opened the sunroof all the way and then closed it. Problem solved. Give it a try. Good luck. FYI, it resets the automatic windows as well. Roll them all the way down and then back up for the them to work properly.

I heard about that fix as well, but it seemed like something that was too good to be true you know? So I was fishing for other possible fixes to try first. I will definitely try this when I get home. My fingers are crossed

Im having a similar problem. But mine doesnt whistle all the time. Only if I have it in the vent position when I'm on the freeway and try to close it as I driving at freeway speeds (65+).

Also sometimes, if I open the sunroof all the way, then try to close it, it reaches a certain point and seems like something jams it cause it stops, then automatically moves back to fully open position. I have to hold down the front wind "shield" that pops up to get the sunroof to close at that point. Its almost like the spring rails are not moving as freely as they should and are giving too much resistance to the glass?

Not a huge hassle, just want to get around to fixing it sometime soon.

Having the same problem, hearing the sunroof on somedays and others not. And can't close the sunroof without tapping the close button. I will try resetting my system tonight though

to close it fully you have to hold it down closed.. let it close to its safety position.. let go, and close it fully...

that's normal...
