Default Going to Tahoe in feb and need to get AS or Snow tires

I am going to Tahoe in February and need to get some All Season tires or Snow tires put on my stock rims. My current wheel and tires will not work due to the tire being a summer tire which is only good for dry and wet conditions, and I am not going to put my rims through the horrible road conditions. Sooo what I am wondering is should I get a snow tire? Would and All season be good enough. And I want to get this all done for under 300. I would even buy used tires they aren't going to be on my car most of the time. any advice would be helpful.

A true winter tire would be your best bet. They'll provide more traction in the colder climate than a all season. Check here for options -- www.discounttiredirect.com

Yeah I looked there the major tire stores are to expensive, I think I will have to go with a local place , I saw some dean wintercats that seemed to be a good tire and cheap.

4 days I'd just get all seasons that handle well in the snow. Now, I if I lived there I'd get a set of winter tires/rims.
Or another option is to rent a car and get the full coverage. This way you won't ever damage your scion.

My wife suggested renting a car but I figured I would be killing wo birds with one stone by getting the tires on my stock rims so that in case we wanted to go to the local mountains we would be ready to go. I think renting a car will be fairly close to the same cost as buying the tires.
