Default Curtis Hitch

Got my curtis hitch in the mail the other day. Real beefy, class 2 350lb toung weight and 3000 trailer capacity. Funny thing is, the xb has the mounting holes already under it, 2 holes are used on the drivers side for the tow eye.

Not that I plan on towing anything, I got it to beef up the rear end incase I am rear ended and if needed, I can carry a wheelchair carrier as I have ms and was in a wheelchair for 9 years.

Its a snug fit, if you remove the toung and ball, you would not see or know its there. Best of all, the trailer light controller has pass through connectors, so no splicing.

I got mines from etrailer, heres a photo of the install.

I have that exact hitch but I got mine on eBay for $120 shipped. I bought it to mount a bike rack to it. I also got a flatbed bike rack that makes loading bikes super convenient. I would post a pic but I can't do it from my phone. I might have an old pic in my profile.

I'm not exactly saying that, but the hitch has a tongue weight spec of 350 lb. If your scooter and the carrier it's on weigh less than that then I would give it a shot, but I can't confidently say that it's a great thing to do. My 2 cruiser bikes in this picture and rack probably weight barely over 100lb. together.

excuse me for the old crusty pictures...

Anyone know if the xb would be capable of towing a jetski? Where can I buy this at? I've seen some on ebay, are they the same as this one?

^ I haven't had a problem with my brakes. I agree they don't stop on dime because the brakes a bit mushy, but if you hit them with enough force (sudden braking) they stop pretty darn quick.

i wasn't specifically talking about the specific, just brakes in general from toyota.....but try driving a mini cooper, or a mercedes A class, SMART car....all those cars are along the same price range and have way better feel and control over the brakes....Toyota is slowing becoming another GM! slowly!!! cutting corners, cutting costs. Who knows, maybe they are building stuff in China!

But i did do stainless brake lines and replaced the pads with TRD units and the brakes did get better...about 75% better than stocks! Do give it a try!

I just towed a 1000lb sailboat all over Florida this past week and the xB did excellent. It is better than I expected, the only thing I caution is stopping. You need to be very careful when you are stopping and leave extra distance.

I'll try to post a pic soon.

I was thinking about buying one of these for road trips, they are just under 2000 lbs., but I didn't know what the XB could pull.

Yes, give extra room for braking, merging and acceleration.

Scooter??? Is this one for fun or an invalid? I am sure you can exceed 350 lbs, just make sure to not haul anything else inside and maybe it bottoming out on harsh bumps. JCwhitney sells bladders to put in the springs to beef them up and reduce sagging.

i tried it with my scooter and they are fine....but the backs do bottom out though....but easily fixed with the little rubber mounts that go between the springs...picked it up at pepboys...for less than 10 bucks!

Its a very snug fit along the bottom, the bar that holds the trailer ball shouldnt touch anything.

Autozone also sells those spacers that go between the coils to firm up a ride in the same section with the urthene bushings. One reason I am on stock springs vs lowered, are your springs stock or lowered? I may neeed to buy a pair and keep on hand just incase. The platorm to hold a wheelchair is like 75lbs and an electric wheelchair can weigh upwards to 300lbs.
