Default New owner rim / tire questions

Just picked up my FM tC and was hoping to get some help from fellow tC owners.

I have used the search and probably read through the first 30 pages of this forum, but I still have some questions.

-Is placing winter tires on the stock rims each winter and removing them come spring/summer bad for the rims?
-Beside preventing wear on the stock rims, what is the advantage of steelies?
-Are there any all season tires that perform well enough in the rain / snow that are also good in summer?

Thanks in advance.

not a tc owner nor a tire expert, but i'll try to help anyway...

-winter tires mount on rims the same as any other tire... so it shouldn't harm the rim in any way... more just a hassle taking it to a shop to swap in the winter/summer/all season tires as the weather requires...
-advantage of steelies... you don't have to spend the time caring/worrying too much about them if they get curbed, scratched, or nicked... and they're cheap enough to have a set designated for winter use...
-generally all seasons are OK for most all driving conditions... but not necessarily the best for any one particular driving condition... from what i've read, if you drive in snow regularly, it would be wise to get a set of winter/snow tires...

thing to keep in mind... you might need to get standard lugs for the steelies if you go that route... i'm not sure if the tC alloys come regular lugs or with "tuner" type lugs...

Only if the guy mounting them and dismounting them doesn't know how to operate the machine.

Keeping your wheels looking nice is the advantage. It's like having an old pair of shoes to wear in the mud, you don't wanna muck around in your gators do you?

Like Snuppy said, most tiresthat are good for both do neither really well. For the price of a set of used steelies, it'd probably save you money and time instead of getting tires remounted and rebalanced as the weather changes
