Default Koni Struts Smooth?

B4 Flaming, I've searched without a definitive answer?
Are the Koni Struts smooth, and shocks for that matter, smooth on the softest setting?
I currently have monroes and swift springs all around and the ride does not handle aswell as it did with my trd springs (which were hard a rock)
and on big bumps it hits hard.

I'm looking for better handling with comfort in mind

Is the install any different than it would be on the Monroe struts?

I love my Koni Yellow Sports. Keep in mind the shocks are only a part of the "comfort" when it comes to the ride of the box. What you should do is change out the end-links to some poly bushings, make sure you have a sidewall with on wheels with at least 50 or taller. If you are running anything larger than 16" wheels, you are going to have some comfort issues. I roll with 18s part of the time, but I change out to stock rims with Falkein 912s for comfort... I'm looking to get some lightweight rims eventually.

Now then, the coils... I don't know if they are a progressive coil or static. If they are progressive, the rate of the spring increases with the compression. You can find this type of spring in the Tanabe DF210s. The Koni Yellow Sports can be soft... I believe they are smoother than the Monroe shocks/struts and the installation is identical.

I know someone who rolls on TRD springs/shocks... they are indeed stiff on 17s... but when rolling on 16s with the 50 series tires, it's not _as bad_ but still a little stiff. The suspension changes I've got on my box were put together to give my preferred method of handling (very stiff with little body roll and nearly no oversteer).

Put them on!!!

Anyways Yeah I do ride on 16s with the endlinks already done
and a 205 5016 bfg sport

for some reason my handling is not as tight anymore. When I hit a bump it goes al over the place, never did that b4. And I get a lunk when going forward or reversing

I know you do sciond. Everywhere I looked for info on th koni's you were there.

I just ordered them and will install soon. I want to call koni to get suggestions on the setting esp rear since they are harder to adjust.
I'm thinking with the soft swift sprints it should be set just above soft.

anyways i'm just looking for better handling and more comfort

I have DF210 springs, stock struts and Koni rears.

The front is harsh on bumps, even with 15 inch wheels.
The rear is decent, but I can't tell a difference after adjusting the shocks one way or the other.

Would KYB's be improved for handling and ride quality?

To zman, are you saying you can't see a difference in adjusting the koni dampening settings? Not to be rude, but you might not be doing it correctly because you should see a big difference. My ksport springs and koni shocks ride very smooth on soft settings, and very harsh on the harder settings. One thing I've noticed is that the harder dampening doesn't seem to effect the bound of the shock, just more of the rebound.

I may not be.
I just turned them clockwise or counterclockwise, can't remember which way is for softer.
I need to do something about the fronts.

I bought Koni struts for $352 total. It needs to warm up outside.

As for the shocks:

I turned this to try to adjust the shocks.

Monroes all around would help make ride smoother tho.

There is nothing in that picture that would adjust the shock. Remove the shock, compress fully to engage the foot valve, and then turn the rod whole holding the shock compressed against the foot valve.

People just like the shorter Echo ones, but not for the ride quality.

Okay thanks, they didn't come with instructions or anything.
I don't feel like taking them out right now.

Be sure to turn that nut back to it's original tightness. It is what is holding the top of the shock to the car.

Yeah, they sent me three, so I have two nuts on one side and one on the other.
