Question Handles like its being wind buffetted?

Hello all.
2006 xA with 90K miles. Handles like its in a 30mph crosswind. Driving me nuts.

Tires OK
Alignment OK
Car is overall perfect. Extremely well maintained.

Do these front OEM struts tend to die by 90k miles?

replace yours with some monroes struts and shocks cause the original's should be replaced by 50k-60k miles..

Yep, if you still have the OEM struts/ shocks you are over due for new ones. The stock ones were way too stiff for such a light vehicle. The Monroes are matched and ride really nice. Money well spent.

TRD spring will fit the Monroes but why? TRD springs are way to harsh and will take away some of the nice ride the Monroes offer. I went Tein H techs with my Monroes for a slightly lowered stance without the harshness.

Paid $80 shipped new for the TRD on ebay last year. Has anyone tried the KYB? How does it feel?

The KYBs came stock on the xB so it will ride like a rock.
Sell the TRDs and pick up some Tein H techs and Monroe sensatracs. You will not be sorry. I've been on this combo for a few years.

hah, i was going to say, the xA actually has the lowest aerodynamic drag coefficient of al the scions sold so far, could be struts. might also be something like your stabilizer (anti-sway) bars being loose or something.

cool. Just bought the Tien on ebay ($128 shipped). Now need to get a good deal on the Monroe. Do you happen to have the part number for both front and rear?

The Monroe part numbers are 5601 for the rear and 72245 up front.
Best price I could find so far was Rock Auto.
72245- 80.79 each
5601- 27.79 each

$217.16 plus shipping (for me shipping would have been 20.82)
I think they are cheaper now than what I paid for them 2-3 years ago. Good luck. Also check your local Napa store and save on shipping.

Thanks! Just order the monroe from this place http://www.wundercarparts.com/searchItem.epc using parts number 5987 and 71575. The number is from an echo. People seem to be using them in the Monroe topic of this forum. The 5987 is $29.58 each and the 71575 is $54.23 each. My total is $167.62 shipped (free shipping on order $75 or more).

Just be warned the echo struts will add extra drop to the front end. Not sure if that will cause you to need a front end alignment too.

Also, please update us with your results of the new pieces once you get them installed.

Shoot forgot about that. Maybe I should sell the front once I get it and go with the 72245 instead.
