Cutting coilover springs

Cutting coilover springs
Has anybody done it on here, were there any side effects? My Tein SSP coils are about dead so I'm not worried about the long term effects on the struts.
I just wanna go lower, I think I will be happy when my front lip is < 2" off the pavement and my rear is sitting level or maybe a slight rake (.5" tops)
I don't even know how I would cut the back springs since they are not uniform all the way down. (never been a spring cutter)
So anybody is welcome to chime in if you've had experience doing this. I will probably research, gather ideas and execute this when it warms up a bit.

just avoid all bumps dips and cracks inthe road. u wouldnt want your cut springs to pop out of place and have your chasis laying on the floor in the middle of the street.

Purchase shorter springs for your coilovers and upgrade the stiffness so you don't bottom out all the time

Your biggest problem with cutting springs is definitely not going to be the condition of your struts..you will be totally destroying the spring rates which makes you run the risk of having an extremely unpredictable ride and the car will bounce like crazy.
The best solution to go that low is to either find lower coilovers, modify coilovers (which really isn't much better than cutting springs..) or just going air.

My coilovers are already modified, they're not adjustable anymore, that gave me about .5" more drop than before. I've read about people flipping the hats but without seeing a step by step guide of how it's done I'm not doing it.
I'm about to lay down the phone books to get the jack under there and modify the rears a little more, should be able to get about 1 more inch of drop outta the back, I think the fronts are maxed out for the most part.
This box will never see air, I want to keep it 100% static drop. I've had about 8 bagged and bodydropped trucks and that's just something I don't want to do to this car.
I HATE tein, I wish I could go back 3 years and kick myself in the butt for even considering buying them. This is one time being a brand ***** bit me in the butt.
I am probably gonna pull the suspension outta my box again this weekend if the snow hits us and check out the fronts again, I might be able to do some fabricating to basically drop the spring on the strut about another .5" to 1" which will put my front lip 1.5 to 2" off the pavement.

Modified the rears tonight, basically just took the lower spring perch/cup out and running straight springs back there.
Definitely gonna look into the spring option, how do I decide which is right for my struts and such?

Someone mentioned this same idea in the agressive wheel thread in the tC section but I believe you are going to want something that is almost double your current spring rates.
Keep in mind though since you are putting a shorter spring to go lower you are essentially forcing your struts to travel more than they were meant to. I know you said they were already dead as it is but just kind of an FYI.

I have been riding on cut stock springs for about 6years now and close to 100K miles with no probs, just cut my rears again the other week to get lower, threw in some shorter shocks and still no probs other then dragging the rear bumper on stuff.
