I mounted the top hats up-side-down on the top of the strut tower which gave me an extra 1"+ drop

VW modders have used "drop plates" for years. They fit where the OTG spacers and camber shims go. They give you 3" drop and 1/2" spacing on rear wheels with stock springs/shocks. Some sell for $109 and others go for $149, still a lot cheaper than springs/coil overs and will center your wheels in rear wheel well if you are slammed on bags as well (last pic).
Too bad they don't make these for Scions.
Maybe someone will start making in the future?
1/2 inch steel drilled and tapped should be easy if you have moderate shop, just need the dimensions of rear hub assembly bolt patterns??

extreme drop kits much like extreme lift kits are same realm of idiocy.
but to each his own, I suppose.
to those who don't know, you can by a "spark thrower" kit and install it on your ride instead of scraping bottom of your toaster on tarmac.
P.S
altering suspension like that is not only unwise, but dangerous.

Yeah, so don't cut the springs... Bad idea and its a hack job. Just do it the right way, and buy the new springs and install them yourself. Midnight scion is right, it's dangerous
