Default Tires are Rubbing Need Some Help

Im on 18" wheels with 225/40 tires and they rub when I turn real sharp and was wondering if spacers would prevent that?

i would say try some wheel spacer but with that wide of a wheel might be 1/4 inch or 1/2 but i would check ur studs first to make sure there long enough it may help it may not

whats the offset? it sounds like you got wheels that are quite a bit off from the factory +45mm offset. but your solution depends on whether your closer or further away from the centerline of the wheel.

the offset is too high and the tires a bit wide. Van spacers 10mm in the rear
and 5mm upfront. That ought to fix it.
They look good though,
anypics on the car?

ohh im sorry..factory is +38mm for the xB. i thought you were talking bout the tC. sounds like the inside of your rim is too close to the strut assembly. wheel spacers should work.

im on 225/40/18s too and they rub. my first set of 18s were +44 offset and they not only rubbed during sharp turns, but the rears rubbed whenever i hit even a slight dip. they cleared the fenders no problem but rubbed on the inside.

my 18x7.5s now are +31 and they still rub slightly at full turn. i have no spacers in front but have a onetongarage shim on the rear driver side only. not for function but just to bring it more flush with the front wheels. i had both shims on before but the passenger side was a lot more on the fender so i took it off.

So will i really need to get spacers or not for the front to prevent the rubbing? Or is there no way to prevent it from rubbing unless I get a smaller tire? I am probably going to gets them for the back.

it probably would help. changing tire size would probably help too. when i wear mine out... im gonna try 215/40.... maybe 35.

my rubbing issue though is with the fenders. i cut the rears but they'd still rub if i hit a dip too fast. and the fronts rub on the bolt that holds up the bumper. the bolt on the passenger side actually got rubbed out. its just gone.

Just got mine today :D

E-Mail Van http://www.onetongarage.com/

Lightning fast shipping, & he is the most helpful person I have ever delt with !

I am running 18 x 7.5 w/ a 45 mm offset. Van told me to buy the 10mm shim & 2 sets of 5mm spacers. I am also going for a more flush look. Just tell him what you have & what you want to accomplish & let him do the math.

Hope this helps, Good luck with your setup !

Changed front from 225/40/18 to 215/35/18 no more rubbing issues. Rear added a spacer and still running 225/40/18, no rubbing issues.

I am going for the same look. I have 17's though but the offset is 42mm. I probably will puchase the 10mm shim with two sets of 5mm spacers (front and back) This should work well with the TRD 1in drop.

So that means that your going to run 5mm and 10mm on the back?

Yes here is why. We are going to run a 5 mm spacer front & rear. And then a 10 mm rear shim due to the xBs rear being tucked. The shim will even out the rear to match the front & the spacers will just push all four wheels out a little !
