Default Do the stock rims bend easily?

I was a huge dumbass last night. Was merely crawling in a cramped parking lot at very low speeds (we're talking <3mph here) when I made a hard, slow right at a T-intersection after coming to a complete stop.

I turned right a bit too sharp apparently because I slowly lifted my back wheel over one of the curbs which appeared basically out of nowhere.

You think I bent a wheel? I was going really slow. I was nervous as hell afterward and the car seemed to drive OK, but I didn't drive past 20 mph on the way back to where I wanted to park.

I guess I'll have to drive it a bit faster today, but what should I look out for if one of the rear wheels is bent or out of alignment?

Well has anyone here bent their rims or has anyone cut a corner a little too sharp and hit their rear tires on a curb?

You would know if you bent your rim. Going that slow, I seriously doubt anything bad happened besides maybe a little curb-rash. These rims get curb-rash easy.

Thanks, I inspected my rim and there was no rash. I think I was incredibly fortunate.

If you can't see a bend and its not causing shaking or vibration at highway speeds, you got nothin' to worry about.

I hit a massive pothole (or possibly an open sewer grate) in a construction area at about 50mph. It pinched my driver's side rear tire against the rim and cut the sidewall. It was a massive impact, and I expected one of the driver's side wheels to be destroyed when I got out to look. The was a tiny scuff on the rim, but I had the tire replaced and the wheel checked out and everything was ok.

So I would say our wheels are pretty strong.

I've only seen the tC's wheels broken where the spokes meet the rim, this of course was in a severe accident. Even tho the rim was ruined, it wasnt bent at all.... havent seem the rim bent yet

I F'n drove over a curb doing like 20-30 mph... dont get me wrong I F'd up alot of stuff but no serious damage to the rim like breaks ... it was probably bent but for the most part it held up well.

i've hit the same rim twice while making right turns.
first time was on a small 2-way-street, after i made the turn, i saw a car approaching and tried to hug the right side as close as possible, i ended up turning into the curb with my front right rim, damage wasn't much, tire ripped a little bit, and the rim was scraped up, did not bend though.

after that, i rotated that wheel to the back and the back to the front. a couple months later, i hit that rim again while making a right turn prematurely. my front cleared the corner but back did not - same type of damage, ripped a little bit of tire, and scraped up the rim some more.

my allignment is fine - everything is fine , so im pretty sure u are OK too.

Not sure about the rear wheel, but I have had my stock, front wheel bent. Somebody's muffler/catalytic converter fell off on the Bay Bridge and I wasn't able to dodge it, therefore I drove over it. Afterwords I noticed that the car didn't feel right and I had a slight vibration comming from the steering wheel. I took it in the shop because I thought it might have knocked the alignment off, but they told me they the couldn't even get the alignment machine on because the wheel was bent and I had to have it replaced. Funny thing is, is that they had trouble finding stock xB wheels, to think with all the people getting aftermarket wheels for their xB's that they would have an abundance laying around.

You're comparing apples and oranges since the tC's stock wheels are alloys, and the xB has steel wheels. That must have been a serious impact to bend your steel wheel. They tend to be much stronger than alloys.

freeway onramp with a HARD right turn that I'd taken dozens of times faster than that.... this time, the cheap ___ tires lost all traction and slid into the curb that was separating the turn from the other lanes. Wheel was banked, so the one rim took all the impact flat on its face. Damage consisted of a scratched up underside of the bumber, damaged rim, bent strut, twisted lower control arm as well as all the linkage between the strut and the arm

clear enough? :D

I hit a pothole REALLY hard doing about 50mph, ruined my tire but the rim was fine.

I hit a similar pothole going about the same speed with my 17" rims on my eclipse and the rim bent..

I'd say the tC rims are very strong.

I hit a pot hole going 70 on a rainy day and no damage done. I also go over speed bumps daily around 20 mph and you know the ones that aren't big and smooth, thats what i go over. And you can hear the wheel hit the ground again. But my rims are fine. No damage.
