Default At long last: Trak Lites on my xA

You can't even understand how much trouble it has been to get these things put on. It was most definitely worth it, though.

17" X 7' Motegi Trak Lite
Gunmetal finish
+42 offset
215.40.17 Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3
One Ton Garage 10mm rear spacer shims

Thanks to wheeldiscounters.com for an awesome price on the wheels (Under $1 000 shipped to Alaska!!!) and Roger at Tire Rack for hooking me up with some great tires at a reasonable price.

First thing I noticed is the difference in road noise. These tires are very much louder than the Bridgestone Blizzaks that I just took off. It's been far too long since the stock tires (Potenza RE92) were on, so I can't compare there. Tires are very sticky, though; driving through the twisties outside of Anchorage on the way home was a pure joy.

The wheel is just spectacular. There's nothing I can say about it. Before I saw them on the car, I was worried that the gunmetal finish might not go well with the Indigo Ink Pearl, but it turned out remarkably weel. Most significantly, it looks unique. This color will likely show less of the dust and silt on the roads around here.

Just for ____s and kicks...it seems as though the "gunmetal" finish doesn't match the metal on my gun. Beretta 92FS Brigadier Inox, in case you were wondering.

Yeah, if you're going to pose w/ a handgun, at least make it a G-Lock or 1911! Berettas are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay overplayed, and if you know anything about ballistics, you'd stay away from 9mms.

Subtle drop, NEGATIVE. AT LEAST a 2 inch drop for xAs!

If by subtle you mean 2 inches, then I concur.

Kremtok,

Did you have to get new lug nuts with the Trak Lites or were you able to use the stock lugs?

Had to get new lugs. I got them from the same peoples who sold me the rims.

As for the drop, I would do it, but I'm worried about ground clearance in the winter. What springs would drop the car only about an inch?

^^^ TRD Springs, Tien H-Techs, and Tanabe NF210's are good for a 1 inch drop.

Righteous. Thanks for the tip!

Asking which of those springs is better would be ignorant, but while I do some research on them, can anyone leave opinions on either of them?

I'd get the TRD springs because the H-techs and the NF210s are too cushy for my taste.
