Default New Candied Tails (56k okay?)

Hey everyone. Thanks Max2k for the instructions, they really helped. I can't stress how important it is to take your time when seperating the platic lens from the housing when HEATED. I made 2 small cracks because I was anxious. TAKE YOUR TIME.

I also didnt paint any black nor did I buy 2 cans of Testors Paint (just one candy apple red).

Any quesitons?

For a standard drop (I know nothing about lowering), what kind of price range am I looking at? I understand I can spend upwards of thousands if I choose high-end and expensive labor, but realistically....?

Any suggestions?

Buy some springs (roughly $150) and install them yourself with a buddy.

Here's the instructions:

As for what springs to get, try searching this site for springs. I have Hotchkis and love them. Tein and Goldline are very popular around here.

expect to pay 130-170 depending on the springs. springs have been the mod with the single biggest bang for the buck effect in terms of handling and performance, not to mention way better look and stance.

if you dont want to install yourself, hit up Gabe (Stylis) at PrecisionMuffler.com in Milpitas, CA. he'll put em in for a cool $65.

g'luck man!

It's amazing howeasy that looks. Thanks for the help guys! Now as far as springs go, I'd like to purchase something that will keep the ride as soft as possible. Cornering, response, rigidity....doesn't mean as much as the look. Is it a lost cause trying to get soft-ish lowering springs in the first place?

Goal: Lower without major ride difference

I bought the Yakima racks from an aftermarket toyota reseller....gosh can;t remember the name....it's one of the huge retailers and it has toyota in the name of the site. Sorry I can't help ya out more there! I also bought the strapthang from Yakima as well and it's SWEET. It carries large loads and the red accents the car very nicely.

I ride a classic 70's stinger pintail 7'4". I also fool around with a 6'0 when it gets big because I can't dive the 7'4" for the life of me. I go straight to the floor with the teeny 6'0. Here are some pics of "The Ninja." It is an exact copy of it's father on the right that's now almost 35 years old.

I put the Tein S Tech spring on mine. Got em off of ebay for $140, and it rides better than stock. I love em

I do keep them year-round. There is a small vinyl square that buffers the racks from the paint so I'm sure the most damage (if any) will be paint fade around where the racks are. Even that is something that can be fixed.

The only thing I may be worried about is the small folds on the rubber weatherstripping on the door. It bend whenever the doors are shut and may be slowly molding to that bent shape so if I ever do pull the racks off, the rubber may not seal correctly. I'll wait until then to complain though.

Right now goldlines are on a nation wide back order, so I am pushing the tiens and the RSRs. The RSRs more than anything, because I love the ride.

Surfmobile, you are only 15min away from my shop, you should come over sometime and visit us. We are also have a tracy meet this sunday, interested in meeting more scion members? :D

Always! I just have to bring my cars down on the weekends when there's something going on! I always choose the wrong ones to leave my car in other cities! Sheesh!
