Default PICS - Your Educated Opinion Please TRD Springs

Here is the problem, my ride is too high. Setup, 215/45/17 Dunlop FM901 + Nakayama 6-speed wheels +42mm Offset. OneTonGarage REAR 5mm Spacers + 10mm REAR Shims.

The pictures make my car look really bad, it looks ok at this hight in person. But i do need to lower my car for overall visual appearence. i was going today to buy the TRD springs, i am pretty sure rubbing wont be an issue due to the shims and spacers. Can someone post pics please of the TRD springs so i can get an idea of the lower stance.

the thing is i would run the goldlines or hotchkins springs instead but the TRD springs are paid for with the 50$ gift card + a 100$ dealer credit. <---long story.

What is your opinion, both on the rims and TRD Springs.

HELP... hurry.

if i were you id use that money towards getting the trd shock/strut set along with either one of those spring choices.

i dont know how they look on the xB, but every car ive seen with trd springs i always think... ehh... it could be just a little bit lower and it would be perfect.

as long as you dont mind being a little closer to the ground, i think getting something other than a TRD spring set would be the best for you, and use your money to get the trd struts/shocks- cause those are worth it imo

ive seen the TRDs in person. im running the Tanabe DF210s. when im next to someone with TRDs, it honestly doesnt even look like theyre dropped. i honestly would get the armest or something like that with your money.

TRD springs ride isnt great either for the amount of drop. i would stay clear. get the DF210s if you want to really slam it down. goldlines if you want low, but not too low. Tein s-techs if you want a decent but subtle drop. TRDs if you want a minidrop for whatever reason. they just dont drop it really well IMO.

i have no pix but i hope this helps

Here are some pics of mine...TRD springs around 1-1/4" drop, TRD shocks and struts and a 205/45-17 tire(even the same color!) I do think it could sit lower but I need height for traveling

On the DF210's, how is the camber. At a 2in drop what kind of tire wear do the springs create? Is the ride nice on the freeway? Thanks so much!

I'm in agreement with everyone. Spend your gift card on an armrest or quickshifter. I've had the DF210s and the ride is pretty good. They also have the best drop look wise. You can see the slightest foward rake whereas some springs make the front look higher for some reason. If you get them, you wont be disappointed thats for sure. Also, the TRD springs dont even look like you have a drop. Dont waste your money on them.

As for camber; when you drop the xB the camber doesnt go all out of wack like in most hondas. However, after you lower the xB with any spring or coilover, get an alignment as soon as possible to prevent adverse tire wear.

Well, you can deffinitely tell mine is dropped. Maybe not a lot but the TRD springs lowered it enough to allow the wheel to fill out the wheelwell. I know it isn't on bags, but hey, it is noticable. It now has a nice 1" or so space all away around the wheelwell where as before there was about 2 or 2-1/2" from the lip of the fender to the tire.
I'm not trying to push TRD springs but the man asked about TRD's
And besides, he has $150 free money for this.

Use the dealer money on TRD shocks and get Hotchkis springs...

1.6" drop, and a much smoother ride than TRD's 1" choppy ride.

Dont get me wrong, your xB looks good, but dont you wish it was a tad lower? I mean, i thought my tanabes were too high after awhile.

like sarcasmkillsme said, the camber will not be affected but you will need an alignment as you do with any springs you get.

yes but we are simply saying that he could use his money else where more effectively. thats what im advocating.

as for tire wear, as long as you have alignment, there will no diff. between stock and DF210s. the ride on the freeway is fine. i took a 1300 mile road trip on them and never felt like i was going to die because of the rough ride.

ill put it this way, if i had to do it all over again, id get the Tanabes again.
heres some quick pics of the drop so you can see the drop.

Yes I would like another 1/2" drop at least, but my wife and I travel a lot and I can't afford to go any lower depending on where we end up(road conditions) and how much we load it down. Like you said, when I got it back from the dealer after it was lowered, I couldn't really tell, but I parked next to another xB and it is noticable. I had a couple people at work ask if it was lowered too.

I like the Tein S Tech's. They look good on 17's & 18's.

I just went to the dealer and ordered the TRD short shifter based on all your comments. I was just in a hurry to drop my car

I will save up some expendable cash soon to buy either the Hotchkins, Goldlines or Tanabe. I dunno yet.

THANKS!!!!

Use the toyota gift card towards TRD struts. I went with those and tein H-tech springs. Ride is SOOOOOOOOOOOO much smoother! I can't believe how i ever did without them... You'd be a fool to only get trd springs at it will make the car even stiffer!

whats the prices for the Tanabe and Tein springs? which ones are better? and what is the difference between TEIN S-tech and H-tech springs? And for those of you who installed the springs yourself, how hard was it. Oh and if I were to get non-TRD springs and install myself would I be voiding the warranty? can anyone tell me where the best/cheapest place would be to find TEINs and Tanabes?

It is noticeable. My nephew's RS 2.0 has TRDs on them and when parked next to me, you DEFINITELY see the difference. It does look lowered with the TRDs. You can't have it too lowered around here with all the friggin cracks and potholes...
