Default Vent Visor Installation

Hi folks,

I just bought the VentShade vent visor for my 2005 xB. I was a little worried when I saw the box was saying the vent visor was for 2004 xB. I thought it was okay since the 2004 and 2005 models are pretty much the same, but it did not fit to the 2005 xB at all and it scatched a little paint in the window trim when I forced to put it. I am very upset about the quality of this deflector and I am pretty surprised that nobody ever complained about it in this forum.

Now, I an going to return it and exchange to a WheatherTech, would anybody please tell me your experience if you have installed one before.

Thanks in advance!

I too went with the VentVisor brand (I'm cheap). It said '04 on the package - but it fits. There are a couple of spots where the double sided tape shows, and the window front driver side window does hit on the way up (a little trimming should solve).
And you are absolutely right about the 'chinsee' quality. But that's what I get for buying cheap. I have to smooth/round the sharp edges a bit.
Will be leaving them on for now. Kind of interested to see how long they last?????

I had VentVisors on my previous two vehicles and they were cake to install and I didn't have any problems with the quality at all. Now, I haven't seen an xB set, but I've had at least two good experiences with this brand.

I expected a more 'molded' finish to them. These have sharp, cut edges. I was/am quite disappointed. But hey - like I said.....I get what I pay for....

....Then again, I bought a cheap car

I have the Wade visors I got for 35 bucks on ebay and except for the tape showing a bit on a couple of them I'm happy with them. They are thick and don't wiggle like the ones from dodge that are on my husbands truck. Those bend so easy that they are coming off after less than a year. I though I heard other people complain that the ventvisor brand had fitment probs. weather tech and wade seem to be the best just that wades are cheaper.

Hi folks,

At least, I found one person's message to proof me right.

This has been discussed at length before:

I gave a set VentVisors away after fitment issues with the front and went with the WeatherTech.
IMO (and many others) the VentVisors are junk.
Just a heads up - Although I went with the WeatherTechs and like them, the Wade visors are very similar to the WeatherTech and are much less $$$.

If I decide I can't live with the current 'vent visor' brand already installed - what is the best way to get them off.
One compliment I can give the brand - that seems like really good tape

I've made my VentVisors tolerable. First I did a little snipping where the window was hitting them on the way up. Second, I put a little 2-sided tape on the back of the front ones to secure them away from the glass. Third, I went to WallyWorld and bought three packages of black door guard strips (the kind that go on the door edges) and installed them on the "unfinished" edges of the visors. This 'cleaned' them up a lot. Plus, removes the sharpness that one could actually get cut on while cleaning glass.
The strips cost just a tad over $2.00 per package - so, about a $7.00 improvement.
