Default ? about buying 17" RH GT5's

I will admit.. I don't know ____ about rims. All i know is the smaller the tire in height, the worse the ride.. With that said...Which of these do you reccomend for the rims and why? (what will give me a good ride and still look great) And what's with the width.. will these fit the xB????

205/40hr17
215/45hr17
235/45hr17

Thank you for your newb patience.

can anyone vouch for 205/40's ?????

is the ride really that rough... I've heard the TRD's on 215/35 is horrible.. and 40's aren't 'that' much taller...

Don't think your road conditions are as bad down there as they are here in the tri-state region, but am considering what has been reported as successful in this area:
215/45/17. But would appreciate feedback on whether I should get a 17x7.5 rim, or can I get away with a more available 17x7 rim? Also I'm not considering lowering our box yet.

Also assuming that your road conditions are better that this area , you should consider switching to one of the progressive springs which are recommended in these forums. They will lower your vehicle 1-2 inches, but will result in much improved handling and ride.

It looks like all the Dirty Jersey guys are looking into running 215/45s. I can tell you that i have these on my RS1, and really havent had any problems, other then some minor rubbing on the plastic inner fender well when i turn hard. If its pics your looking for, hit the link below. Im gonna wash and re-shoot the car tomorrow, when there isnt such a sun glare. BTW, my ride isnt lowered.

Just remember, changing the overall diameter effects gear ratio. Taller will be slower acceleration but lower highway cruising rpm. Smaller is the reverse.

Going with the 215/45 vs. the 205/40 is only a 2.3% difference. Not much to worry about IMO.

That was the very limited RS .5, limited to one production, and in part with Maytag.
