Default Question about rear shocks

Im planning on getting progressive coilovers for my xb, with those i still will use my trd rear shocks. Ive got a lot o stereo stuff in the back so the back end kinda sags a little. Ive beeen hearing alot of people talk about a shorter shock from napa for all you guys with bags and ive heard of the koni shock and the monero shock, i m wanting to set my coilovers pretty low like at least 2 inches or lower for dalily driving. Which would be best option for rear shocks and whats the part numbers for them? Thanks for the help

If you want better shock absorbers in the rear get Koni adjustables... cant go wrong they will run you $98 each but well worth it. If you want to drop the whole ride the fron ones will about $165 each. I have these with hotchkis springs. I really dont recommend the hotchkis but i STRONGLY recommed if youi want a better, less bouncy set-up you cant og rong with koni. I installed them at first on the softest setting and they were softer than stock, with ALOT less bounce, then i pu them on the 3rd setting got signifcantly rougher and feels much more stable now, then i went all out and put those shocks on HARD!!! WOW!!! THATS ROUGH!!! Good for circuit racing and breaking your back....

Default Just add some Mugen Onrage springs

I got these mugen springs off ebay, they ride fine but my problem is I plan on towing a 5x10 cargo mate enclosed trailer an the hitch I have on the xB has a 2' receiver which hangs to low. Plan: Add 215/35/18 wheels and tires, but my question is by adding the koni in the rear on a setting of 4 lets say (Only while towing) will the damping be reduced? Meaning will the tough wt not pull the rear of the car down? I thinking this would be the perfect setup since the hitch is all ready on the car and the stock springs will never see day light again.

This what the car look like after add the springs and hitch:

When you add tongue weight to the hitch, you counteract that additional load (sag) with springs not shocks. The shocks at "4" will not prevent sag, they will prevent bounce. Shocks do nothing until the suspension moves.

One thing to note, the compression dampening of a Koni is low so the setup will more than likely bottom out. Probably not a good idea to tow with a lowered XB.

So if the shock will not prevent sag, you suggesting to use a higher rate spring on the rear, but I think that setting the shock to 4 will not cause it to bottom. If the shocks are the same lenght as the stock set, I didn't think bottomin out is not in the question. Plus the hitch is already on the car.

The shock would not bottom, but the spring will because of the added weight and low compression dampening of the Koni. The adjustability of the Koni adjusts rebound dampening, not compression dampening. This means when you hit a bump, the suspension/wheel moves upward as if it is in soft "1" mode. With the Koni adjust to level "4", the spring return (wheel coming down) is much "stiffer". This will keep you in great control after you bottom out your spring..... You may be better off with the stock shock as the compression dampening of the KYB is much higher than the Koni. This can help prevent bottoming out.

Coil overs could be the answers since the ht can be adjust plus the damping on some
