Default knock off aero kits

ok so where do i start. i see alot of people here that are getting the knock off kits from various companies.... why dont you get the real deal? now days its just as easy to get real stuff and as for price you get a knockoff kit for like 800 vs. the 1500-2000 of the real deal, but you end up forking out another 1000 to get the knock off to fit and look good. then theres the show thing, you get more points and respect if you have a real kit unless you lie and say its the real deal). plus the more you buy real stuff the more the price would go down and the more fake stuff takes money away from the company...now the only reason i see getting a fake kit would be to modify it beyond recognition so it would no longer be a "so and so" kit....so tell me why getting a knock off is ok or not ok...

I know what you mean, but everybody's budget is not the same. ALso, most people think that you're buying just the brand name? I know it sucks since the knockoff companies just make copies of products of the actual manufacturer's who spent their time, money, and ideas to give consumers the best products. That's just how it is, people will pay for cheaper products.

People are working within budget constraints and don't want to go to the considerable trouble of getting a set of car bumpers sent from japan to america.

I agree that it ends up costing more to install a knockoff, but the whole idea of paying 2x as much for bragging rights is still stupid to me. If it actually looks the same and works the same, who cares?

the thing is that the knockoff's turn out to cost as much after the bodyshop's through.......and i just like to support the companies that developed the products......the more you see those companies getting usa offices the less knockoffs you will see because it will be copyright infringment

If only one company made them, you'd end up paying more for it. The knock-offs help keep the prices balanced. With some things, you get what you pay for. Other things, it may not matter as much. It may be true that some k/o kits may end up costing as much in the end, but I don't think that's a hard and fast rule. If someone does their own bodywork and doesn't have to pay hourly rates to get it fitted could benefit. Buying a k/o kit may allow for more money in the paint/fitment area compared to someone that had to have the original but has to skimp on the paintmatching, etc.

IMO, since it's something that's going to be painted over anyway, it may not matter that much. If you have to make the point that it's the orig and not a copy, does the difference matter? Maybe at a show, but when you're driving down the road or kickin' it with your peeps the overall look is the key and if your budget requires you to cut a few corners, do what you must.

It just sounds like another form of bragging.

BTW, ever shop at WalMart or buy the store brand at the supermarket?

It's worth the extra time and money to get a kit back from Japan. I bought the WBlood kit in person. The box will be unlike any other that I know of. This is what judges want to see. Good quality n originalty.

shawn, do you even have an xB?

personally I got the TC Sportline (knock off of JDM Parto) kit. I love it. No fitting required. Fit perfect. What the point of spenind more for a name? its really quite stupid infact to buy a NAME. I can understand Jim going over to Japan to buy that kit since theres nothing here like it, but if it was here, its just as good to buy the k/o. heres what we'll do. ill get 100 scions with body kits together, and ill let you use your wise knowledge shawn to tell me which ones are knock off and which are real.

But I do understand the argument. In Japan, things are more expensive cuz people make more money than those in the same age bracket here in the U.S. Cars are primarily toys to some in Japan. Much like me. that and Japanese people tend to just buy name brand anyway. We do not make that much money generally speaking. So, we tend to buy cheaper. I think it just may be tiresome to hear guys complaining about fitment or warped parts when they buy cheap. Whatever. I am going unique like a lot of others. I DO know the difference between the real Fabulous and the knockoffs. I saw it first hand. There is nothing like bragging rights and everyone knows it. No one can argue with that. I have a friend with Spoon SW388's on his Civic. They are cool. Another guy I know has the Rota knockoffs. Both look good, but the appeal of Spoons is cool to me and others that notice. Just like me rollin in to a meet with Works. It's a standout. I feel like the guy who rolls into a Civic meet with a DC5R. You feel good. there becomes a different standard then.

i have a knock off and im good with it...FOR THE TIME BEING...i do want to get a real kit, but thats all in the works of being saved for. i dont ball by any means.

it all also comes down to what makes the individual happy. as long as the person having that on their car is happy, who cares? if he/she is not bothered by the kit or by what others think, isnt that a bigger plus for that person? to some extent we want others to enjoy the viewing of our cars, but for the most part shouldnt you be happy with it yourself?

i dont know, but to me it comes down to whether or not you're happy with your own car. i look at my car and smile...sometimes frown...but smile for the most part. and if someone else smiles cool, if someone else frowns cool. either way, its all about your happiness with the ride.

someone people like real for the sake of real, some people just want the look of it. i wont be a trash talker to either, because i have real works and a fake fab kit lol. im a walking confusion.

also, youre gonna get hate one way or another. if you cant get airrunner and get another air setup, some elitest are gonna dis. if you get the full fab kit but didnt get the fab wheels, some are gonna hate. i say make yourself happy with the ride and thats all that matters.

YOU SCION'RS AND VIP'RS SHOULD KNOW THE MOST ABOUT THIS! if you have the most VIP'd ride at a show...clean, low, wide, cambered, etc...the ____er with 32 TVs in his rims and one more on top of the antenna of his car is gonna most likely win anyway. so who cares, have fun with it. just enjoy your ride man.

ok. that was my longest post ever. take it for what you will. just have fun. okbye

some ppl get knockoffs because its just more practical, especially if your a daily driver. besides edit:some of the japanese kits were not made for the xB so they have crappy fitment.

Are you really sure you know what you are talking about? What makes you think JDM kits have crappy fitment! You are completely far from the truth. All JDM kits will fit our cars. Some kits require the 10mph impacts beams to be taken off but thats it. I will say it one last time and end this MYTH.

**ALL JDM bB KITS WILL FIT US xB's**

im jus saying some of the kits dont have as great as a fitment ppl say they do, An example would be the kenstyle kit, it has about same fitment problems as the replica ones do.

the reason i said that was becauseive had a few friends that purchased the noblesse, vert, veilside , and DAMD kits, and they either required being cut, or adding fiberglass. but after that was done, it was perfect fitment.

Is it not also true that the first gen JDM bumpers are shorter than the second gen JDM and USDM bumpers?

Would this require you to get a set of first gen JDM bumpers to run a kit that is only available for a first gen JDM bB?

Zenki bumpers are shorter front and back. So yes, you need the JDM bumpers technically
