xB tail light mod.
Ok, as alot of you know I just picked up an xB. Well I HATE the clear tail lights they come with, especially when my xB is a very dark color. Below is my process to elimate that clear tail light problem.
Here are the tails as they appear stock.....

Here are the tails with the reverse lights masked off and the remainder of the tails painted red with Krylon Stained Glass spray paint available at Micheals craft store.......

Heres a pic of the tails with the red paint on them and before I put on the clearcoat......

A pic after the clearcoat.......

And here is a close up pic of how smooth I was able to spray on the finish with spray cans

No, but the lights shine through just as bright because the paint is transparent. The only difference in the rear lighting is the turn signals are red now.
If you are interested in doing this mod go to Micheals Crafts store and buy Krylon Stained Glass spray paint in red. It's like $7, but you can reduce the price even more if you get someone to buy in on it with you. One can will do like 3 sets of tail lights.
It paint is transparent with a tint of red to it. The red color on my tail lights took like 3 or 4 coats to give you an idea how easy it is to see through the paint.
Then to top it off I sprayed on like 6 coats of clear to get rid of the ridge where the red stops.

The 18 wheeler drivers will be the only ones who can use this hint to identify your box.
I don't sit as high as them. It is hard for me to see your canvas sunroof unless you raise your hand through it.

What brand clear did you use? I know krylon is a _____ to paint over with certain brands of clear and I definitely don't wanna have to buy another set of tails if I screw up.
