Default Longer xB wheel studs, the definitive search thread.

Okay I've searched and have come up with a few "maybes" or "possiblies" as for cheap OEM wheel studs that will work on the xB.

Heres what I found from the search of wheels studs said to be longer (by 0.25 inches or 10mm)

- 1997 Landcruiser - not sure if the fronts or rears (they list as different part #'s)
- Tundra (no mention of year or if front/rear studs used)
- Echo (once again, no year mentioned, no mention of front/rear studs used)

I will try my best this week to figure this out once and for all (with years, makes, models, part numbers) as to which wheelstuds from year/model/location(front/rear) will work on the xBs.

I know there are many others out there that just want longer wheel stud for your wheels (and do not need to buy spacers).

I need it just for my wheels being too "thick" in the center and only allowing for 4 revolutions of the lugnut.

If anybody knows which studs (year/model/location) work FOR SURE, please post it and save me (and many others) the guesswork.

Studs are studs. I mean yes there are some differences, but a knoledgable tire place can get you longer studs.

But a lot of people would rather know which studs from which vehicles are what length so that they can plan accordingly and not have to trust a tire/wheel place.

I mean I like to know exactly what part I need and that part will work before relying on somebody else.

Plus, Napa probably sells there studs for a lot less than a wheel/tire shop.

When you buy longer studs for a car you aren't usually buying studs from another car to fit yours. You buy studs for your car but you order them longer than stock. Thats why you need to go to a wheel place so they can help you, thats what they are there for.

Okay, then let them do it that way.

Some of us would like to know what part to ask the Napa person for, so we can pay $1.73 per stud and know it will work in our xB. Thats why I started this thread...for those people.

Ok, and I'm saying those people are making things alot harder on themselves. I went to the local Firestone dealer last night, $3.25 per stud. Yes it's more money but my point is I have been on the case of finding longer studs for a day and already found something and you guys are still looking.

Well, you could help by supplying a part no# or verifying they work on the xB.

Also, measurements of how much longer they are over stock studs.

I basically wanted to know where to get them, what to ask for, how much longer they are, and verification that they will work on the xB.

They are xB studs. I don't know what other cars they work on, but they are for the xB. They have different lengths available. The Firestone dealer I deal with has many sources so I am unsure of the brand or part number, all I know is they have them and they work on the xB.

I still need to know how much longer they are than the stock studs.

I will hit up the tire shops around here as well, but I will go to Toyota first and buy a stock wheel stud.

The whole point of this thread was to help everybody locate studs by lengths (different people need different lenghts), help them find exactly what they are looking for (hence part #'s), and where to get them.

But you are helping out, just find out a part no# or tell us what you asked for specifically and I'll go check it out and report the lengths available for purchase and from whom.

Thanks again.

I walked into the Firestone dealer and said "Hey mister tire man, I need longer studs for my xB, can you get them?"

The tire man said "Yes, just tell me how long you need them."

What this means is yes they are available, yes they are made for the xB, and no I do not have part numbers or lengths because that info is determined by you telling them how much longer you need them to be than the stock studs.

I'm not trying to be a dick, I'm just telling you that you are putting WAY too much effort into this when all you have to do is go to a local tire shop, preferably one that specializes in custom wheels and ask them for longer studs that fit your car.

from what i've heard, the civic studs have the same pitch/thread pattern...you can find some studs at the following:

http://www.jdm____.com
http://www.modacar.com
http://www.jhpusa.com
http://www.inlinefour.com

and don't go paying a shop to do the work for you, changing studs yourself very easy task, and also if your a name brand ***** or anything, you will want to stick with the skunk2 and apr, now they do suggest tac welding them in place, and honestly, don't, b/c when one of those studs snap, you can just hammer it out like you could if you just slide it in, just properly torque down your lug nuts and youll be skraight ;-)

hope i could actually help rather then bump my post count up higher and higher for no reason at all ;-)

btw, not all tire people are knowlegable as you found ctruss, most of them here in jacksonville would look at you like your retarded, or give you the wrong thing and tell you that you have to bore the hole in your rotors/drums to make them fit...so why not do it yourself...gain some knowlege and take it with you

Is there a part number on your receipt?

^^^ True, around here (in San MArcos), all the tire and wheel shops were pretty much useless. A lot of them had no idea what a Scion xB was. But I digress.

I've looked into the Landcruiser and Tundra studs, they are a no go, in fact they are both alomst the same size as the stock ones.

I'm going to hit up the Firestone in San Antonio eventually, maybe the bigger city will yield better results.

No recipt, I didn't buy any. I went in and asked my buddy who works at the local Firestone here in Hopkins, MN and thats the info he gave me.

He said yes studs are available for the xB I just gotta tell him how much longer than stock I want them and they are as good as ordered.

The same thing can be done at any custome wheel place with compitent counter people. Being from Cali, you guys should have no problem finding a good custom wheel place.

It's a no-go at discount tire, NTB, PepBoys, Toyota, a few other smaller wheel shops and mechanics. all of them didn't do studs (most didn't know what an xB was).

Although I will be getting better fitting lugnuts (ones with a shank) to get a safe number of rotations on my wheel studs.
