Default Underframe braces and ground clearance...

This would be one of those "Topic says it all" kind of threads. My RS2 has settled out on the DF210 springs to about a 2.75 inch drop and man does it look good. This came at the cost of some ground clearance in fact when I go over some speed bumps my front mudflaps scrape every once and a while.

I'm looking at the Tanabe Sustec front brace and the TRD rear brace (pure sex by the way). Will these two braces hang low enough to cause an issue with ground clearance or do they sit relatively close to the underside of the car? I really don't want to be scraping the powder coating off of a few hundred dollars in suspension components with the ground.

I have the TRD rear member brace on my echo hatch and it scraps speed bumps. I'm running Eibach springs 1.3" drop. I have to take speed bumps at an angle...its the bolts that hang low and scrap.

i don't think we are talking about the same part...(i know it is for diff cars, but it is still similar)

the only part of the TRD rear frame brace that hangs down is the cross bar. it is about .5 inches below the sub frame of the rear.

the jacking points of the vehicle are lower than this is. and the side skirts of the xB are even lower than the jacking point.

so, unless you are scraping your side skirts going over a speed bump it is impossable to hit the TRD rear frame brace.

you can see here that it will not be low enough to hit first...

you are lucy that it is a direct bolt on for the xA...on the xB you have to drill a few holes to make it work.

There is only one TRD rear frame member brace that I know of that fits the echo, Xa and Xb. There are 2 bolts on each side of the cross bar that hang low...that is what scraps speed bumps.

This is the brace I'm referring to

ok, we are talking about the same thing...
it seems that the echo does not have the jacking points and side skirts like the Scions do. those are lower than the cross member and bolts...
