So I'm looking for some 16" or 17" rims for my 05 TCM xB. I think I want some rims with some lip, maybe some VIP looking rims? I don't have the money for work rims or something that expensive, so can anyone recommend me something? Maybe even some pictures? Thanks guys.

Haha, that's a good idea. Maybe no more than $200 a rim? Tires don't matter right now, just trying to find the right rim.

 

If you really want to get into something with a nice lip, or a "VIP" style wheel you are probably going to have to bump what you want to spend. Yes, even for 16s or 17s. I don't know what people are actually selling Work wheels for, but I do know what some of the domestic brands go for. Save up for a while longer and try to budget up to about $500 per wheel.

If that is too much, start watching for people selling their used wheels or be prepared to settle for something with less lip.

 

TireRack has a decent looking 17 with a lip on it. It's not a HUGE lip, but it still looks good.

If you can bump your budget just a bit, look for WORK wheels used on ebay. You can usually get into a set for under $1500.

I've been looking around, and can't really decide. I do like these ones http://www.scionsporttuning.com/wheels_smesh.htm, but I don't know. Can anyone recommend something...say I had a high budget for rims. Recommend me something. Pictures would be nice!

If you really want recommendations for a higher budget here you go...

If you are looking at moderately higher I would say take a look at Work. They are very popular among the Scionlife crowd and seem to be a high quality wheel. If you are looking for no holds barred high pricing and unmatched quality I would take a look at I-Forged and J-Line. Both companies have incredible offerings that are similar to what you have looked at, but prices to match the higher quality.

 

IMO, I-forged and J-lines are way, way overpriced for what you get - they're cool, but just don't ever pay retail. You could probably equal quality from Japan at a cheaper price - it's just harder to find a reputable source.

Plus, I find I-forged and J-line to have really generic designs (especially for what your paying), but I guess that's just my taste.

I would rather get Work. In my experience, these wheels have the best value for their price - even with shipping from Japan. Plus, they are much easier to acquire now.

As for recommendations, just keep looking until you find one you really like. Then research the brand. Research where the style is from. Research construction method. Etc..

Unfortunately, the more knowledgable about wheels you become, the stricter your standards will become ! Next thing you know, you'll be spending way more than you ever thought you would...lol

 

I dig the Work rims, yet they are very expensive for me. I'm diggin the Axis decades a lot. I'm just concerned that since they are 18" rims, there will be rubbing issues (my xB is not lowered).

I shall keep looking around, but the Axis Decades are catching my intererst the most right now. Thanks for your guys advice, and keep it coming!

Does anyone know if 18" rims will rub on a stock scion? How about with passengers or cargo?

 

I have 18x7 wheels (which are for sale, BTW) with a +40 offset and they don't rub and I'm lowered on Tein S-Techs.
