Default weird Rim fitment issue..

I own a set of 17x7.5 ModConcepts woks/baliques.... currently have them off for the winter...
last weekend was helping a friend put them on his car... so he can use them for a show this weekend.
we both have '05 xB's.... both have lowering springs, me on teins, him on tanabe's...

you'd think they should just be mount and go..... no problems...

Wellllll.... we got both driver sides on... and started to back his car out of the garage and repark to give us more room to work on passenger side....
he backed up a couple feet.. and heard this scrapping sound.... i didnt hear it at first so he started moving again and that time i heard it.... scrapping from the rear wheel...

stoped the car.. jacked it up, removed tire..... and saw that on the inside edge of the lip.. it was scrapped all around... and on his car... on the rear arm (a few inches towards the front of the brake drum) was a build of fillings shaved from my rim....

its a raised edge of a hole that goes into the rear arm.... no bolt goes there.. looked at another xB with his rims off.. and has same hole... must be just a fabrication issue between parts i presume.... i dunno... the edge on his car is bigger than on mine i guess.. could be easily fixed with a dremel i bet... but just found it extremely odd....

anyone else run into a similar issue when swapping rims with a fellow owner??

that is the reason they make shims...that suspension arm is a huge issue, just go to www.onetongarage.com and order the 10mm spacer shims and you'll be fine ;-)

your not the only one

hmm.. weird... never saw anything about that b4.... figure it fits fine on one xB why not another???

oh well he found himself a different set of rims to buy/use for the show.. so its all good as long as they still fit fine on my car....lol

It's gotta be the difference in suspension. It's probably causing a little more toe-in on his car then on yours.

That's the only thing I can think of.

thats what papa foth thought too.... its either that or just a finishing issue about the arm... either the edge to the hole on my is abnormaly low or his is abnormaly high... oh well..

yea, it is a common issue.

thats why when you bolt it on, you give it a spin while it is in the air.
you can spot many issues (like dirt that got caught, causing the wheel not to sit flush, or rubbing) before major damage can happen....

sorry to hear.
now you need to re-balance that wheel.

Yah I have 17X7.5 with 215 45 17, and i had to use spacers.
I also have the Tanabe suspension. I think the spacers give
the rims a better look, out even with the fender well. It must
me something to due with that suspension. I have got an
alignment since I put them on, but it did not change anything,
might be the S-techs.

the only problem is since our rear is a solid fixed axle, fixing toe in the rear is not a solution =(

The suspension on the xB is so cheap that the tires dont camber in when the suspension goes up so there is no issue with toe-in. Thats why people buy camber plates and even with camber, it wouldnt affect that suspesnsion arm issue he is having.
