The $50-million plant will supply the existing Toyota plant in Cambridge, Ont., as well as a second plant scheduled to open in Woodstock, Ont., in 2008. The new Toyota parts plant is expected to open next year. It's a welcome change for an industry that's been struggling with job cuts at its biggest employers.

In recent months, Big Three automaker GM (NYSE:GM) announced numerous closings and cuts, including the shutdown of the Oshawa No. 2 car plant in 2008, and the eventual elimination of a shift at the adjacent No. 1 car operation. It will also close a parts facility in St. Catharines, Ont. - moves that combined will eliminate 3,660 jobs.

WOW! American vehicle is going to be really small and Import vehicle is going to be really big. It seems that Toyota/Scion/Lexus is becoming the biggest automaker in the world and it will overcome the American vehicle. I cant predict the future but it seems like it.

oh yea I agree with you groundhog! I notice that American cars tend to have problem, except the sport and muscle cars. Also American trucks are not bad but they have powerful engine for 4X4 reason. But I have a feeling that imports will wipe out american cars and leave american trucks. Let see what happen in the future.

Personally I'm tired of seeing Canada get all the new plants. They should stick to making Hockey sticks AY. LOL
