Default shorter shocks/struts

ok my box is lowered about 4 inches but still have stock shocks and struts, my question is what shorter shocks can I get to smooth out the ride b/c the stock ones are bottoming out. I need brand and maybe where to get them and for about how much.
Thanx

from what ive heard and read the monroe shocks are what your looking for the fronts are half an inch shorter and i think the rears are an inch shorter, this is all info from what ive read on here and other sites. Oreailly and Napa carry them but there listed under a toyota echo they dont have are scions listed yet

You can use the regular Monroe replacements up front, but I don't know if they will help. They are 1/2" shorter, but that is in the strut body. I don't have a set so I haven't been able to check and see if that affects the stroke of the strut. All you may accomplish by switching is another 1/2" of drop up front.

In the rear you will want to get Monroe shocks, but not the usual number floating around. Instead get part number 5870. (NS 5870 from NAPA.) Spider13 told me about these. He uses these to allow his airbags to drop all the way. He did say he had to run 6 or 7 washers on the shock though because the stud was too long.

Hope that helps.

so will these shrter shocks in the back drop it ant more of just smooth out the ride, I am looking to smooth out the ride more than the ride hight, until I get bags. if it does not lower it any more than that is great and that is good that the new struts lower it another 1/2 inch b/c the back is just a little lower b/c of the subs and box.

thanx agian

The only way the shocks will drop the car anymore is if you are currently bottomed out on your shocks without applying a load. Springs carry load (hold up the car), shocks only dampen suspension movement.
