Default Does this look ok? (Wheel width issue...)

So a day after the new wheels have been put on I'm looking at the wheels and noticing the tires don't appear wide enough for the rim. I realized they would be a bit smaller, but I'm hoping this isn't TOO much.

They are the factory 185/60 tires on 15x7 rims. Wheelmax said they would be fine when I ordered, saying the size would be ok, but looking at it I just wanna see what you guys think.

I'm sure you guys know more about this than I do, so I wanna make sure. The other odd thing, is theres like a glue looking substance or something on the edge of the tire where it's like they did something during the install that it's like showing up on the tire. You can see it in the pics below. It looks like icing or something blowing out from the seal or something.

Anyways, do you think this much wheel sticking out from the tire is ok, or should I be concerned? I know I'll have to make sure to watch for curb scrape with them like this, I just don't want there to be any hazards with them blowing out or something fitting like this.

thanks.

From that 2nd pic, it looks like the tire doesn't even touch the edge of the rim. I don't think that will be a strong enough seal to keep the tire inflated, it looks like the only thing holding the tire on is the lube sealant

The shop says it will be fine and that the "icing" stuff that can be seen is the lube they used to make sliding the tires on the wheel easier and it's not a sealant that would be holding anything in place. They said it's normal for it to look the way it does and to just brush it off. They also said the tires shouldn't have any issues even though the wheel is out like 1/4in or so. They said just to watch for curb scrape.

You guys think I should take it to another tire shop or am I just being paranoid because I don't know anything about it haha.

Ok, so to settle my paranoia, I just took it down the road to a Just Tires shop and had them take a quick look. They said it should be fine and that the spot where the tire seals is deeper in so the only thing I need to worry about with the lip sticking out is curb burn.

Phew...

My lip is sticking out way more. It has nothing to do with the bead, I have had mine on for a bit with no problem...

i suggest getting some 205 series tires so they fill out the rim. hit the wrong bump and there goes your wheel.

It's only normal if you are using a smaller tire then what normally would be used. I think a "normal" tire would be a 205 or 195. You'll be fine though. I've seen tires stretched far greater than that. If it really concerns you, just go pick up a new set of tires.

Here's one picture I found on Google. I'm sure other people have more. There were a couple that I saw that were absolutly insane.
