Default Where to jack up the car?

I am using a hydraulic floor jack and have jacked up the car many times but I always think I might damage something. Where is the best place to put the jack and jackstands that is safe and will not damage the car? Any comments are appreciated, pictures especially.

Thanks,
Mike

There are usually spots marked on the car. There should be good documentation/pictures in your owners manual.
