Default I dont get all this offset stuff....

I have read the FAQ on this in the forum like 10 times and i still dont understand what the offset is. What is the offset? What is a good Offset? How do u tell the offset? Im pretty new to cars and i dont know all this stuff. Can someone tell me all I need to know about offsets and rubbing and such in lamens terms? thank you oh so very much!

do a search, i think "scion van" posted a nice write up about offset, wheel fitment stuff...

try this link http://toy4two.home.mindspring.com/offset.html

input your original offset and rim width, then input new values, it'll tell you how close or far(clearance) the new set up is.

what is the best offset for the xB.... like 35-0 or what?

depends on width and what you want. Even front and back requires different offset front and rear or diff width or both or spacers. Flush with the fender requires a little trimming.
What width?

It all depends on what you're going for. My wheels are a +40 offset:




These are a -32 (Yes, that's MINUS 32 )


See how most of my rim is under the car and behind the hub. The other ones are going to have much more of the rim in front of the hub, sticking outward. Of course they'll be tucked under flares and won't just "stick out"...

think of it like GOLF..

the lower the number the better u are!

and dont be worried to go UNDER or negative cuz thats a good thing

That's awful advice. Most people don't want to rub, roll, or use flares.

I was told by discount tire that the offset for an xB should be between 35-42, I ordered18 inch rims online with a +40 offset and have no problems!
