Default XB: New Hood Demolished

Thanks to the f-sticks over at Con-way Freight, my pretty Fiberglass hood which was going to be one-offed with different venting/additional venting was cracked to f#*# and back.... Here's pictures of the aftermath.. I just hope the body shop I'm taking it to can repair the damage within reason...

Top view

Right front vent (Resin injection time!)

Left front vent

Right Corner (Ouch... moulding fun!)

Hood Latch Area (Major reinforcement needed)

Front underhood area (Injection + moulding time)

It sucks when you get something so beautiful that you can conceptualize on your perfect ride, only to be ruined by some rednecks driving a freight truck. I've tried to file a claim with them and they are not wanting to take responsibility. So I face either waiting out 2 months to get $ back, or pay the extra and have a body shop reglass the areas/reinforce and spray it as I wanted...

Chock it up to evoulution and further out of pocket expense...

I filed a claim, but I don't have the 2-3 months to wait while they argue as to whether or not they will pay for the item.... nor do i have the money to buy a new one outright... so my only choice is to try to glass/bondo it at a local shop and see what happens....

The problem with all of that is.. there is no guarantee they will approve the claim and if they do it'll only be partial... freight company's are not like UPS... they do whatever they can to take the low-road out.... I'll post more after I drop it off in the morning and have the shop survey the damage.....

LoL I'm thinking about using it for firewood, but the fumes would kill us all lol

The hood lines up fine (i just tested it tonight (at the cost of a minor surface scratch.. touch up paint/buffing time sigh)..... don't do stuff when you are tired or short-handed....

Anyways off to the body shop tomorrow for an estimate ..

I feel for ya.. just had to deal with that situation with a fab wing.... before that I had the same thing with a front face finisher. Fiberglass sux to ship... it's probably worth the xtra for carbon when possible, just for the durability

Pay by credit card, so if this happens again, challenge the charge. I had to do the same thing when Central Freight damaged a $1200 32" TV and they refused to even look at it so I complained to the distributor and told them to do something about it because I am not paying for it. This is not your fault, so you should not have to pay for it.

Whoever signed for it shouldnt have. Th freight company has to be responsible for it. Unless the shipper didnt protect it good enough.
