A perceptive ScionLife member (wheelstorejt) driving in the southern Los Angeles metro area spotted a strange Scion on the freeway. It looked like an xB, but definitely had a longer wheelbase. Parts of the car were obscured with tape and the whole thing was painted flat black.



The unveiling of the new xB design is rumored to be very late this year, maybe a stocking stuffer for a very Scion Xmas?

 

Looks like a longer rear end as well... It doesn't look like they're doing a drastic change, (like the bB) but instead just bumping up the size and power.

that isn't the xB's replacement from what my sources at toyota have told me.

 

Well, it seems a little strange that they would modify an xB body to test "it"... Its probably just be a mule for the drivetrain and suspension, that body couldn't possibly stay that similar to the current car.

 

This is going aginst the only 3 models at a time but what if they have a long wheel base xB with bigger engine and a normal just like now

I don't like it. Part of the appeal of the box for me is that it is small on the outside and big on the inside. If they make it too much bigger than it is, it would be less of an city car and more of a poor excuse for an SUV. However, I wouldn't mind more power/bigger engine but I hope the gas mileage dosen't go down the tubes either. (Perhaps the 1.8 from the corolla?)

 

the 1zzfe from teh corolla gets better mileage than our xb's in a car that weighs more!!! so yeah .

 

it looks fugly. I think where the hood meets the windshield looks like the HULK stomped on it and broke it.

An xB with a "longer wheel Base is a MINI VAN"!!!!!!

I hear the new xB is going to have the tC/Carmy engine with optional supercharger!

 

usually you know its a car in testing when they have these disks suspended over the wheels from some rod. looks intersting tho. is he staring back?

That's the same mule we saw earlier this year, check the past news about 3-4 months back and you'll find more shots of it when it was in AZ I believe.

They should just release the new bB like they did with the first one.

It'll be such a far departure from the norm that people will buy it, once again.
