I know I am a noob but I know a little about engine mods but thats where it stops...need help with this issue i was thinking about gettin 18's but i think im gonna regret it so for now i decided im going with 17's and this is the rim that I am choosing. Need a little feedback on it. I have a black box with a crome grill ripped out the antenna and shaved it and tyc lights. How bad are 18's by the way.....1-10..anyway my major issue is what is the differnce between the two rims i think its bolt pattern or offset or sumthin i dunno..thats why i am a noob. Any feedback would be greatly appreaciated. And correct me if I am wrong but doens't a 205/45/17 make the speedometer almost the same as if it were with 15 inch rims?

Please let me know what tire size to get with a 17x7 wheel that would be close as possibly to stock in terms of speedometer and will NOT RUB...and also if u have 17's pm me or just shoot me a message here.....thanks for your time guys and I will have pics running up soon.

 

i got 215/40/17 no rubbing and looks great

 

Also running 215/40/17s - over 1 year now with no problems - even dropped.

 

I ran 17 x 7 with 205/40/17 with a 45 offset. No rubbing.

 

www.1010tires.com has a calculator that will show you that the best size is in fact 215/40. That's what I got. I also ordered from that site and am expecting my wheels any day now. I hate the wait! By the way, shaved the antenna? Our antenna is integrated into the rear quarter windows.

215/40/17 and dropped 2"...When they need replacing, I'm going with 215/45/17's to fill the gap a little more...By the way, I have yet to rub on my current set up...

I actually had 235/45 on 17x7 wheels for an old bmw... it looked so hot! dunno if it would fit a dropped scion tho..

i have 17x7 in front and 17x9 in the rear with 215/45/17 i think it looks good.

 

Just keep in mind that 40 walls 'protects' your rims less. So if say you lived in Manhatten or Washington DC, I suggest you get bigger walls.
