The forum search returns nothing on H&R even though they are mentioned in numerous posts, mostly for wheel spacers. Anyway, I threw a set of their springs on the xB last night and I am favorably impressed. The suspension seems more supple, the pavement patches,manholes, and potholes are not as harsh as before. They lower the car about 1.5 inches, a very noticeable drop but not so much that it's worrisome. I think it's just right. Does anyone else have H&R's and how do you like them?

that's dissappointing... i was hoping for some actual 'sport' springs from h&r. it seems nobody actually wants to make a set of stiff springs for the xB... i got the tein s.techs hoping they would be sporty... but they are far too SMUSHY/SOFT/BOUNCY.

lame. but i am glad you like them. i think i'll have to get some coilovers...

 

My car only has less than 200 miles on it so I haven't put the springs to much of a test. And I didn't mean to imply that the ride was mushy. The initial reaction on rough pavement is just not a big jolt. Otherwise all I've done so far is drive it around town a little and the difference is not dramatic.

 

A note on the spring install: My left front spring perch was in backwards originally and the right rear rubber grommit was also backwards and a little chewed up. Interesting......

 

the mushiness is mostly the factory strut. Depending on how many miles you have on it but factory struts are designed to last about 18,000-22,000 miles. Not saying they can't last a bit longer however, the mushiness willl go away ONCE you look towards a stiffer strut. Like a true coilover, a sport strut itself is stiffer. It has a different stroke which is controlled bu a larger diameter rod. usually differnt oils and gases and the possibilities to control bound and rebound. the stiffer spring like the TEIN will aid in giving you better control of the assembly itself. I'm sure the springs helped a little and prolly should have been the original spring to begin with i'm sure most would have prefered it. Your coilover will prolly be what you wanted i say go for it.
