anyone doing one of these? I don't care if it's on stem or banded, but essentially looking to see what sorts of displays are out there, since it will be in my face.

I don't use 'em (I just check with a hand-held gauge), but here are the three that Tire Rack offers:

I did see those, but thank you nonetheless! what others are on the market? (I've seen the pressure pro as well as the 50 dollar ebay banded versions)

Yeah, just to make the 'record' more complete for everyone, here are some others...

http://www.1010tires.com/accessories.asp

That's enough for a start.

My mum used the little screw-on valve caps that have indicators in 'em so she just walks around the car to see if they are all green. That way she figures she doesn't have to crouch down and fiddle with valve caps and gauges - she just has to do her walk-around.

I can't actually find fault with her system.

Is anyone using those screw on thingies that tell you the pressure at a glance? I thought about trying them but they are too big and fugly looking.

My mum has 'em on her xA, and she likes 'em because they give her a simple way to make sure her tires are properly inflated - 80 year old ladies don't need to be trying to crouch down next to a car with a tire gauge...

I don't care for 'em 'cause they are, like you say, "too big and fugly looking."

If there were more compact high-quality ones available I'd at least try 'em.

Maybe if you could use really short valve stems they wouldn't look so bad or stick out so much. I'm thinking that over time they will make them smaller and more attractive. It's a great idea that wasn't executed so well for us car nuts.

found this topic looking for the same thing...I was just looking online and came across Hella's:

http://www.hella.com/produktion/Hell...tor_System.jsp

Hella's TC-400 Tire Pressure Monitor System allows for permanent monitoring of tire pressure and temperature in vehicles not originally equipped with a tire pressure monitoring system. Sensors on the tire valves transmit pressure and temperature via radio signal to the central unit, which in turn forwards this data to the display mounted inside the vehicle.

The system includes one LCD display, one control unit w/antenna, four tire valve sensors and installation instructions and hardware. Once installed, the system can monitor up to seven tires. Extra sensors are available.

Alerts

• System shows cause of alert, affected tire position, temperature and pressure
• Display changes color when alert is given
Yellow display: 25% pressure loss
Orange display: 50% pressure loss)
• Temperature alert (185`F +)
• Overpressure alert (50% overpressure)
• All alerts and settings can be customized
Upon ignition, the system will immediately display a warning if an alert is present. Otherwise, the maximum time between a sensed change in temperature or pressure and notification via an alert to the display is 3 seconds. In case of alert, the system transmits every 0.9 seconds. When normal temperatures and pressures are found, the system will transmit settings every 4 seconds.

Additional Features

• Adjustable display background color customizable to match vehicle's instrument lighting (blue, red, green , orange, light orange, white, light blue)
• Large symbols depict tire condition and position
• Simple, two button display
• Pressure reading accurately guaranteed to 76.8 psi
• Tested at speeds of up to 245 mph
• Guaranteed at speeds of up to 155 mph while at 185`F
Sensor battery life approximately 7-10 years
NOTE: Each sensor is labeled LF, LR, RF, RR, but the system can be programmed to new locations after tire rotation, etc. Sensors cannot be more than 32 feet away from control unit's antenna.
